A Prayer for Veterans Heavenly Father, King and Lord, You instill in all of Your creation an
order and value. You call Your children "very good."
We surrender to You the conflicts that tear your family
apart. We pray for an end to blindness
that places pride, greed, power, and selfishness above human dignity
and brotherly love. We pray in gratitude
for all of those who have defended peace, virtue, and justice with honor.
We pray especially for those who have suffered in mind and body
from the ravages of war. Let Your Kingdom come!
May Your peace that surpasses all understanding
reign in our hearts and in our world.
Amen.

Sunday ~ November 11, 2018
This weekend St. Rose of Lima School theater students will be putting on the
musical Lion King Jr! Performances will take place on Saturday, November 10th at 7:00pm and Sunday, November 11th at
4:00pm at East Greenwich High School. Tickets may be purchased at the door. Our pupils have worked very hard since mid-September preparing for this event; and it is with great pleasure that I announce the time has come for our spectacular shows to be performed. A special thanks to Mrs. Ann O’Grady, Ms. Chelsea Cook, and Ms. Nancy Hillner from Rhode Island Youth Theater for their time this Fall. It has been a great partnership we have established and hope to continue for years to come. I also want to thank Mrs. Rachael Czepyha for the countless hours she has put into rehearsing with the students and organizing the Program booklet. Of course, none of this would be possible without the support of Father Matt.
If you did not purchase an Eight- Month Club Membership after Mass last weekend, you may return the registration form from last weekend’s bulletin completed with payment, in the collection basket or to the parish/school office. Memberships make excellent Christmas gifts; and it is not too early to start your holiday shopping.
Lastly, if you were unable to attend our Open House last Thursday and would like to schedule a private tour, please call the school 739-6937 or email me at kizzi@saintroseschool.com St. Rose of Lima offers a challenging academic curriculum in a faith-based environment with numerous co-curricular activities, including both a Morning Care and After- School Care program for working parents.
Thank you, to all our grade 4 students and their families for a great Children’s Mass last Sunday. It is so wonderful to see our children take an active role in the Mass and their Faith.
On this Veterans Day weekend let us all remember the men and women past and present that have given their time and talents for us. May God watch over all of them and their families to keep them safe and in God’s love and protection.
Our classes are busy working on their Christmas presentation with Mrs. Caton and we are off to a terrific start. I can’t wait for all the parents to see the kids perform and show off all their hard work. As the date gets closer I will have more information on this presentation.
Grades 3-10 are required to attend Confession on November 26th from 5:30 pm to 7:00 pm. You do not have to attend for the whole time you just need to come between the hours of 5:30 to 7:00pm. If you have any questions about this requirement, please see Mrs. Czepyha.
Our next JJ Youth Group will take place on November 13th at 5:30 pm in the Youth Group room. We will bake some breads to donate to the Mother Teresa Group and have a Charlie Brown Thanksgiving of our own! Anyone is welcome to join us in grades 2-5. For more information please email Mrs. Czepyha at rczepyha@ssrcparish.com

MINISTRY HIGHLIGHT: Mommy Break Mommy Break is a charitable work for stay at home moms, with children under five that need a helping hand. It is staffed by volunteers from St. Francis and St.
Catherine Parishes. All participants meet in the former St. Francis School on Tuesday mornings during the regular school year from 10 o'clock until 11:30. The goal of the work is to educate moms to be the best parents they can be, to familiarize them with the services available to them at the state and local levels and to allow them to develop a supportive community among themselves. The children learn to play and share with each other under the watchful eyes of the moms and volunteers. As an incentive to attend the sessions a small supply of diapers and a household item is given to each mom as needed. These are items such as paper products which cannot be obtained with their SNAP cards (Supplemental Nutritional Assistance Program), formerly called Food Stamps. The children are treated with Snack Time, a very popular and usually quiet time. Mommy Break has enjoyed much success since its inception. Moms love to attend, children cry if they can't come to "Family Time." Volunteers are in awe of all the happy, healthy interaction.
All are thankful to Father Plante and our two generous parish communities. If you’d like to help or if you need more information, please contact the parish office at 737-4455.
