Brief:An strategic solution to use garden in winter and under different weather conditions.

Parts of Garden should be covered in order to create a cozy warm atmosphere during winter and also work as a shelter for rain and snow.

Terrace and areas B&C will be completely covered. beside a shelter covering for area A is needed.

We have decided to close the terrace for the winter by using folding or sliding glass panels.

Supplier and coststhe cost of the glazing and frame is estimated to be 3500 TL. There are variety of companies supplying the services.

A decision and more research has to be made for deciding whether to use folding or sliding glass.

Improving the Space

In order to inprove the space we have decided to come with some solutions: - Frame: To move the glass frame of terrace further back to the top of the stairs. This way we’ll have more space in the terrance and it will be a more confortable dining area.

- Skylight: We also want to build an skylight on the passage to terrace from salon to bring in more light into salon and make Bahce more welcoming.

- Ceiling: to cover the ceiling of terrace with an alternative material.

Cozy area covered by plants which are supported by a metal structure. Plan is to cover both sides and top of the metal frame.

ISSUE: A solution is needed to cov-er the top without distracting plants from sun light and growing.

We thought about using BRANDA so we can easity open and close it during the rain without affecting the plants underneath.

coveringTo create a Winter Garden by cover-ing the sides and top by removable glass. We are avoiding metal structures to bring a more natural feeling to the space by using wood structure.

This space should be well designed to be welcoming, warm and conformable.

There is also an alternative of using a metal structure with timber covering.

The Glass should have the ca-pacity to be removed during summer time. for side glasses same structure can be used as terrace.

For canopy covering there are several options to achieve this.

- Sliding Glass panels- Remove and storage - folding glass- Rotating Options

Why covering?A solution is needed to get a food from kitchen to areas B and C without getting wet under the rain.

Hence a solution is needed to cover this area. Possibilities can be extending the Branda from the area B to come all the way to terrace duting the rain and snow.

Warming up

LESS ELECTRIC HEATERS

Electric Heater are usually UGLY, BIG, UNnatural and expensive. However a limited number of them seems to be neccesary to warm up our Winter Gardens

FIRE Is the ANSWERE !

FIRE + Muled Wine Rocks

A lot of top rated pubs in UK use fire in their win-ter garden in a very creative way. In Winter Fire be-comes the signature of the place and people going to certain places to chill by the fire and drink their Muld Wine.

Fire is Cozy, natural, welcoming, unique in Istanbul, and cheap. Specially as we have enough wood to warm up our winter garden for a year !!!!

There are variety of ways to make the perfect fire in the perfect fire place. It’s important for us to be able to remove the fire place when it’s not needed in the summer. they’re companies providing fire places which can be a bit expensive. However we can easily design and build our fire place much cheaper.

So, Please send me your feedbacks and I can con-tinue the design my measuring the areas in Detail and start working on the technical drawigns.

Cost estimations and construction method needs to be discussed further.
