The theme of the 2018 Summer Literacy Institute is Using Complex Texts to Support Language and Literacy Development.

Our new, innovative hybrid format maintains the quality of previous Institutes, while giving participants flexibility to complete some activities at their own pace. Each face-to-face day will include a general session and opportunities for discussion in grade-level or role-alike groups. The groups will focus on the ways the Seminar content can inform primary, middle school, or secondary educators. The final day, which will be online and asynchronous, will focus on synthesizing the content of the Institute.

This year’s Institute will be led by Boston University Assistant Professor Julie Dwyer, and will feature the following nationally-recognized literacy scholars as guest speakers:
