A guide for new students

Upon Admission • Register for the core courses

using the Max System (Psyc 530. 612, 600).

• Full-time students will take all three core courses in the first semester; Part-time students will only take two.

• Students must receive a “B” or better in these three courses.

Class Schedules • The majority of classes are held

between 5:30 and 8:30 PM. • Some classes begin at 3:45 PM. • Summer courses have a day time

schedule.

Core Competency Exams • After taking and scoring at least a

“B” in the three core courses, students are required to take and pass all three CCEs

• The CCEs must be taken during the semester after the final core course is completed.

• Students may retake sections that they fail, but may not move on to Degree Candidacy courses until they pass all three sections.

• Students entering the program with a master’s degree in a closely related field are only required to take CCE’s for courses that are taken at Millersville.

Clearances

• Students are required to obtain the following clearances upon admission to the program:

o Act 151: Child Abuse History

o Act 34: Criminal Background Check

o Act 114: Fingerprinting o TB Test

Professional Organization

• In order to foster the professional development of our students, it is required that students join at least one professional organization in their first semester of study.

• Some organizations that students may join include the National

Association of School Psychologists (NASP), the Association of School Psychologists of PA (ASPP), and the Pennsylvania Psychological Association (PPA).
