What is a screencast?
A screencast, also known as a video screen capture, is a recording of your computer screen in video format. You can include narration or a voiceover using a microphone, so this is ideal for creating tutorials.
O A screenshot is an image of a computer screen.
O A screenshot is a movie of changes occurring on a computer screen.
A screencast is to a screenshot as a video is to a photo.

Screencast-o-MaticWhat I like about this program is that you can write your script first, record the narration on your script, and then record your video. (Adding a script, however, is a Pro feature.)
This feature is awesome in helping you plan your screencast. It also helps save time in implementing your screencast.
It is also very easy to edit your work on Screencast-o-Matic.
When you’re done, you can either publish it on Screencast-o-Matic web site or on YouTube.
Step 1: Go to Screencast-o-Matic.com and watch the quick demo.

Step 2: Click login to sign up for an account. 1. The
login link is at the upper
right hand corner of
the screen.
2. Follow the prompts to
register for a free account.
Step 3: Start Recording!
Click on the blue button to
launch the recorder.
Click the red button to start or pause the recording.
You can change the
size of your
screencast.
You can change the size of your
screencast by dragging the
squares.
You can include a video of yourself.
Click X to
cancel your
recording.
Step 4: Publish your work. Click on
Screencast-o-Matic to
upload.
You can also
upload it on YouTube if you have a channel.
Or you can save your video on your hard
drive.
… wait a few seconds for your screencast to be
published or uploaded …
Step 5: Click on the blue link to view your
screencast. This is also the link you’ll
share with others.
