Containment at highest level, tailored for chemical andpharmaceutical production processes.A unique combination on the world market by providingnew standards in hygienic pharmaceutical manufacturingprocesses and meeting highest security requirements inproduction areas dealing with active compounds andtoxic products. These two aspects are the reason forthe takeover of ABSOLUT FiltertechnikGmbH by FETTE GmbH creating a newFETTE COMPACTING daughter com-pany the FETTE ABSOLUT GmbH.
In many branches of industry working indust free areas is an absolute must.Especially in the chemical and pharma-ceutical industry this has become neces-sary because of many aspects. On the one hand to avoid cross contami-nation with lowest possible OEL levelswith an airborne dust level during hand-ling of the system < 1 µg/m3 and highest possible filter efficiencies of 0.1 – 0.0001mg/m3
as a security for the purity of the product. On the other hand as a security for personnel working on production machines.A not less interesting aspect is recovering expensive products during production processes from the air.The necessary filter system which closes the gap betweenclean room technology and conventional dust filtration is provided by FETTE ABSOLUT.With systems linking together highest possible efficienciesand contamination free handling of the units.
Closing the gap between clean room
technology and filtration in industrial
processes.

Customers from industrieswith highest requirements
Origin of the FETTE ABSOLUT filter system
■ The FETTE ABSOLUT filter system is based oninstalled units developed for the highest securitystandards required in the ventilation field of nuclearpower technology in order to prevent contamina-tion with radioactively charged dusts. Here greatest emphasis is laid on:– Highest possible efficiency by applying Hepa
filter cassettes– The consequent use of 2 Hepa filter stages to
guarantee security even in case a first stagefilter might leak
– Fully contamination free handling of the systemduring filter change and service intervals
– Guaranted 24 hours operation even in case ofthe failure of one module to be is isolated
■ These high safety standards in the ventilation fieldhave been transformed to the field of dust filtrationand dust recovery of even highest dust loads.
■ The FETTE ABSOLUT filter system is closing thegap between clean room technology and dustfiltration in industry and provides a state of the artsystem for even highest safety requirements.
Scientific research of the system
■ By the governmental research centre Karlsruhe, the self cleaning Hepa filter system is scientificallyresearched and evaluated1 as the state of the artsystem with a growing need in the market.

Advantages of the FETTEABSOLUT filter system
Highest possible efficiency
■ Residual dust load of 0.1 – 0.0001mg/m3
■ Efficiency of 99,97% - 99,9997%■ Filter class H 10 to U 17 according EN 1822■ These values are reached because of:
– consequent application of self cleaning Hepafilters in stage 1
– the use of individual security Hepa filters instage 2
– highly developed machine construction– off line dedusting which makes the effective
recovery of finest dust possible.
Above:Type K 20/2.1,5 GMPMeasuring efficiency of stage 2 at DOP port.
Below:Laser particle counter to measure the efficiency of filter cassette stage 2. (Safety filter)
Scanning : Particle counting in operation
■ Hepa Filters are normally only scanned afterthey have been manufactured.
■ The test protocol has practically no value, asduring packaging, transportation and installationinto the filter unit they can be damaged beforethey get in use.
■ Now it has become possible to test the securityfilter after being installed during operation.
■ Here the– Seal of the filter cassette and– The filter media are scanned.
■ A protocol documents the proper function of thecassette.

WIP Automatically washablefilter unit
Integrated washing system in filter module(s)
■ In order to provide a fully contained system ithas become necessary dealing with activecompounds or toxic products to integrate:
■ A low pressure wet in place system to wet:– the filter cassettes before being taken out,
and– the filter module(s) before being serviced,or
■ A high pressure wash in place system to wash:– The filter cassettes before being taken out.– the filter module(s) before being serviced:– Wash the complete system in case changing
the product to be filtered.
■ The water can be lead off automatically, orsucked away by an existing vacuum transfersystem for dust recovery.
■ Thus the centralised dust recovery system isintegrated into the washing process too.(See page 6)
11
Proof of recovered product out of the air
■ In pharmaceutical production processes dealingwith hazardous to health, or dangerous products it has become a requirement to protocol and prove – How much product has been manufactured
and– How much product has been withhold not
being released ■ To state how little product has gone lost in a
process.– The weighing of the recovered product is
done automatically within the isolator.– The weighing protocol is printed within the
unit for documentation.

Function of the self cleaningHepa filter system
■ Schematic function of the filter system:– the incoming dust laden air is lead decisively
into each individually operating module on itstop to create a gravimetric pre–filtration as acyclone effect.
– The down going air is lead upward again – By enlarging the inner room the speed of the
dust laden air is dropped from 20m/sec to 1-2cm/sec when reaching the filter media.
– The dust recovery system has to be adaptedto the calculated dust load reaching thesystem and according to the danger of theproduct.
– The dust laden and purified air channels areintegrated into the system.
■ Self cleaning Hepa filter cassettes stage 1 asactive filters– are designed to cope with highest dust loads
of up to 150g/m3/h– they provide a highest possibly efficiency of
finest dusts and aerosols of 0.3µm absoluteand have a residual dust load of 0.1mg/m3.
■ Safety Hepa filter cassettes stage 2 as passivefilters– each individually operating Hepa filter stage
one has its individual safety filter stage 2.– In case of a leakage in stage one only its
security filter is charged.– Guaranteed residual dust load 0.0001mg/m3.
■ Off line dedusting – the modular construction allows to isolate a
module by closing it during a dedusting cycle.Finest dusts and aerosols can only be recovered effectively off line.
– The airflow passing this module is taken overfrom the other module(s) remaining on line.
Self cleaning phaseFiltration phase
Filter system, filtration, dedusting
■ The self cleaning Hepa filter system is made insingle and two stage versions.
■ It is a multiple modular construction with a capacity ranging between 300 to 33,000 m3/h .
■ 25 standardised different module series are avail-able to provide tailored solutions when beingassembled according customer´s requirements.

Triple Security
■ Triple seal of filter cassettes to the purified airarea.– Double seal for filter cassette stage 1– Single seal for filter cassette stage 2
■ Lowering of dust laden air area below filtercassette stage 1– Thus filter cassettes stage 1 and 2 are on the
clean air side.■ Spring pneumatic sealing device for cassettes.■ Leak control of seal and filter media
– visually or– by measuring at DOP ports, or– by scanning and particle counting
■ Sealing of the filter cassettes upward as providing the most benefits
