Stress = reaction of your body & mind to threatening or challenging events in your life

Positive Stress = Eustress promotes growth and accomplishment.

Negative Stress = Distress when not dealt with effectively can cause problems:-injury (mind is distracted)- illness (lowered immune system), - high blood pressure- ulcers

You receive a promotion at work. Your car has a flat tire. Your dog gets sick. Your new bedroom set is being delivered. Your best friend and his wife come to stay at your

house for a week. You get a bad case of hay fever.

If you are used to thinking that stress is something that makes you worry, you have the wrong idea of stress. Stress is many different kinds of things: happy things, sad things, allergic things, physical things. Many people carry enormous stress loads and they do not even realize it!

List 5 types of Tobacco Products1. Cigarettes2. Cigars3. Chewing Tobacco4. Dipping Tobacco5. Pipe Tobacco6. Snuff

Snuff is ground or pulverized tobacco, which is generally inhaled or "snuffed" through the nose. It is a type of smokeless tobacco. There are several types, but traditionally it means Dry/European nasal snuff. In the United States, "snuff" can also refer to dipping tobacco, which is applied to the gums rather than inhaled.

Dipping tobacco, It is commonly referred to as dip. The act of using it is called dipping. Dip is called "chew” Instead of literally chewing on tobacco, a small clump of dip is 'pinched' out of the tin and placed between the lower lip and the gums. The dip rests on the inside lining of the mouth.

1. It will erode your teeth. The ingredients of tobacco consists of gravels, sand, and other harmful chemicals that erode the enamel of tooth.

2. It will lead to the decomposing of your gums. 3. It affects the taste buds therefore it affects

your diet.4. It causes sore throats, rashes on the tongue,

burning sensation on the lips, and dis-coloring of the lips.

5. It will eventually cause oral cancer and lung cancer.

JUST A EXAMPLE OF WHAT IT CAN DO……………

Smoking is one of the worst things kids or adults can do to their bodies. Yet every single day about 4,000 kids between the ages 12 and 17 start smoking. Most middle school students don't smoke — only about 1 in 10 does. And most high school students don't smoke either — about 1 in 4 does (that means 3 out of 4 don't).

Reasons People Smoke

Reasons People Don’t Smoke

Yellow fingers Yellow teeth Bad skin (pale, wrinkles) Bad skin. Because smoking restricts blood vessels, it can prevent oxygen and

nutrients from getting to the skin Bad breath. Cigarettes leave smokers with a condition called halitosis, or persistent

bad breath. Bad-smelling clothes and hair. Reduced athletic performance. (like rapid heartbeat, decreased circulation, and

shortness of breath) Greater risk of injury and slower healing time. Smoking affects the body's ability

to produce collagen, so common sports injuries, such as damage to tendons and ligaments, will heal more slowly in smokers than nonsmokers.

Increased risk of illness. more colds, flu, bronchitis, and pneumonia fertility problems and can impact sexual health in both men and women. Girls who

are on the pill or other hormone-based methods of birth control (like the patch or the ring) increase their risk of serious health problems, such as heart attacks, if they smoke.

Cancer (mouth, lungs) Stroke Deandened taste buds

Why is cigarette smoking bad for me? Everyone knows that smoking can cause cancer when you

get older, but did you know that it also has bad effects on your body right now? A cigarette contains about 4000 chemicals, many of which are poisonous. Some of the worst ones are:

Nicotine: a deadly poison Arsenic: used in rat poison Methane: a component of rocket fuel Ammonia: found in floor cleaner Cadmium: used in batteries Carbon Monoxide: part of car exhaust Formaldehyde: used to preserve body tissue Butane: lighter fluid Hydrogen Cyanide: the poison used in gas chambers

1. Cold Turkey

2. Pick a quit day

Choose a date within the next two weeks to quit. Don't wait for the "perfect" day – just pick a date and work with it. Put it in your calendar.

3. Choose two or more proven quit-smoking methods

There are many proven ways to quit smoking. To boost your chances of quitting, choose more than one method. Pick what seems right for you.

Join a support group Get individual counseling in person or by phone. Take Nicotine Replacement Therapy The nicotine patch, gum, lozenge or inhaler replaces some of the nicotine you

usually get from cigarettes. Medications to make it easier to quit smoking If you slip up, don’t give up. Try again, and again... keep trying until you've quit for good. Ask for support from your family and friends.

3. On your quit date, butt out completely. Don’t smoke, not even a little. Toss out your cigarettes, other tobacco, and ashtrays. Avoid people and situations where you will be tempted to smoke. Go for a walk instead of a smoke. Be positive. Believe in yourself and your plan. Remember that nicotine withdrawal symptoms only last a short time. Take it one day at a time. Consider exercising more. If you slip up, don’t give up. Try quitting again. Quitting smoking gets easier with practice.

1. Increases your heart rate due to the extra sugar and caffeine. This could ultimately result in heart attack, stroke or even heart disease.

2. Can cause birth defects in children if pregnant women drink them.

3. They will affect your sleep patterns. Your body may still be filled with the extra energy that you are receiving.

4. They will cause weight gain due to the large amount of calories found in the drinks.
