September Newsletter 2011

This month we had a customer complaint about an awning/canopy project that was done over their outside Jacuzzi in Tacoma, WA. We happened to be travelling in the area so we visited the installation site - 6mm twinwall was the product used.

Below you have our “report and recommendation” to the customer.

Upon our arrival we inspected the project and saw water in-between the ribs as well as a lot of algae growing at both ends of the panel - top and bottom of the slope During the production/installation of the awning the customer (via the installer) bent the polycarbonate sheets to 90 degrees about 1 inch from each end.

Recommendation for this site:

Cut off (with utility knife) the broken 90 degree angle and allow the polycarbonate to breathe and dry. Then cover the top end with aluminum tape or silicone and for the bottom slope of the panel cover it with vent tape. There is no need to remove the panels from the roof – this should be easy to fix on site.

This is just an example of one issue that can arise from an installation that was not done right. Ourcustomers are our top priority – no matter if they are a systems manufacturer, distributor, installer, or an end-user. Feel free to contact us with any comments or concerns.
