It’s used to prevent shingles (not chickenpox) for people 50+ years old without contraindications.It reduces incidence and severity of shingles, and the risk of developing PHN.Reactions are usually mild; injection site pain, swelling or redness occur in 48% of vaccine recipients.It can be co-administered with Pneumovax™23 at a different body injection site and in a separate syringe.
