Gdańsk shipyard is one of the biggest Polish shipyards and is located in Gdansk on the left coast of Martwa Wisla. Our shipyard built over

1000 seagoing vessels, passenger ships etc. This shipyard is the cradle of NSZZ „Solidarność”.

Monument To The Fallen Shipyard Workers

The monument in the form of three crosses with anchors, commemorating the victims of December 1970, which is located near the gate of shipyard, near the place where the first three fell dead, unveiled 16 December 1980. It has a 42m and weighs 36 tones!

A growing part of the Gdansk shipyard is to be gained by private companies. Financial status is deteriorating from year to year. Some of the

parts were destined for demolition.

Changes

Last launchingMarch 1, 2013, the shipyard had the last launch. The passenger and car ferry Bergensfjord was built for Norway.

Solidarity CentreThe building is located in the European Solidarity Centre. The opening is

expected in the first half of 2014. There will be: interactive exhibition about the history and ideas of Solidarity, archives, multi-purpose hall for 430 people,

PORT

The Gdansk port is a major international transportation hub situated in the central part of the southern Baltic coast, which ranks among

Europe's fastest growing regions. According to the strategy of European Union the Port of Gdansk plays a

significant role as a key link in the Trans-European

Transport Corridor No.6 connecting the Nordic countries with Southern

and Eastern Europe.

The Port of Gdansk consists of two principal sections with naturally diverse operational

parameters: the inner port stretched along the Dead Vistula and the port canal, and the outer

port affording direct access to the Gulf of Gdansk.
