There are two sets of slides in this file. The first set was for the pro side - July 4th Hot Dog Eating Contest Should Be Continued, and the second set was for the con side - July 4th Hot Dog Eating Contest Should NOT Be Continued. Note that most slides use the same images but tell an opposite story. The debate occurred 7/22/14 at Advanced Debaters Toastmasters club in New York City, NY, USA. By flip of a coin, I was assigned to debate on the con side against the contest.

It is great tradition (since 1916)

In 1916, 4 immigrants held a hot dog eating contest @ Nathan’s to settle an argument about who was the most patriotic.

Kobayashi was arrested in 2010 because he does not want to sign exclusive contract with Major League Eating (MLE).

Is Sonya Thomas setting a good example of eating deliberately and in proper portion ?

It is time to get rid of old & wrong practice and focus on our future generations
