The Recycling

Truck.

How we begin…

Selection of group members.

Plan of a project that will be able to create a

change in our school culture.

After doing a survey of 100 pupils across all

levels, we found that the recycling bins in our

school are not used. 95% of the pupils did not

throw their cans or plastic bottles in the

recycling bin provided by the school because

the bins is placed in an inconvenient place and

looks boring. Plastic cans and bottles are

mainly sold in our school canteen.

How we begin…

So, we decided to design a recycling ‘truck’ that

is designed in graffiti style with usage of

different colours to attract pupils to recycle.

A big box was recommended by our teacher as

our recycling truck.

Designing our Recycling

Truck…

We plan by sketching the design of

our truck.

We started designing after a week of

planning.

We carry out the project by designing

the truck in blue/green with two

rubbish bins in it one for throwing

plastic bottles and another bin for

throwing cans.

Designing our Recycling

Truck…

We placed the recycling truck in our school canteen.

Carrying out the project…

Once the recycling truck is designed, we placed the recycling truck in the school canteen.

We also made an announcement during the school assembly to create awareness on the importance of recycling and on the usage of our recycling truck.

Many pupils all across the levels started to throw their plastic bottles and cans in our recycling truck.

The recycling truck is placed in our school canteen for one week.

At the end of each day, we counted the number of plastic bottles and cans.

We donated the plastic bottles to the Scouts in our school for their project.

We donated the cans to our school teachers to as they wanted it to conduct activities/games for the pupils.

In this way, we made use of these products to recycle and used for other purposes.

At the end of the week, we have collected a total of 215 plastic bottles and cans.

We hit our target by collecting more than what we asked for. Within a week, we have succeeded to create a change in our school culture and that is through recycling.
