2010 – EU Life project “Proposals for environmental

politics and management, by demonstrating tourism

development in Slitere National Park, taking into account

environmental, social and economical sectors” POLPRPOP-NATURA

Project was led by rural tourism association of Latvia

“Lauku Ceļotājs”

During the project a lot of discussions among main

stakeholders (local inhabitants, entrepreneurs,

representatives from national park and local municipality) of the region were held

During this project One of the ideas coming from local people –

to organize Traveller`s Days

And the 1st Slitere Traveller`s Days started

12 June, 2010!

What is

Slitere Traveller`s Days?

2 open days in the nature and culture once a

year in Slitere National Park and Dundaga

Region

The essence of the days – environmental

studies

Core of the days – the guided tours in the

nature (in forest, bogs, agriculture territories

and in the sea, by foot, bicycles, boats)

The guides – different natural science

professionals from Latvia

Additionally: a lot of workshops,

opened local farms, plants, culture –

historical places, market products of

local craftsmen and evening culture

program

Permanent and new visitors each year

around 1500 - 2000

2017October – November: preparing calendar of

the main festivities of the next year, including Traveller days

January, February - Balttour –International Tarvel Trade Fair
