A Smarter Grid

The smart grid is the application and networking of technologies and strategies

to make our electricity and energy distribution systems more reliable, more

efficient, and less costly.

A Smarter GridThe smart grid empowers consumers to actively manage their energy use, and

allows the optimal integration and use of conservation and renewable energy

resources to reduce fossil fuel reliance and greenhouse gas emissions.

A Smarter Grid

The smart grid is the "brain" at the center of Oregon's energy future.

Smart Grid Elements

Implementation FactorsThe Electrical Power Research Institute estimates that the implementation of smart-grid advances could reduce electricity usage by more than 4 percent by 2030, resulting in cost savings of $20.4 billion for U.S. businesses and residents.

In October 2009 about 100 private firms, utilities, manufacturers, municipalities and other partners received the Smart Grid Investment Grants from the U.S. Department of Energy.

The SGO missionSmart Grid Oregon is dedicated to

making Oregon a leader in the implementation of Smart Grid technologies and in supporting

companies that build and market Smart Grid products and services.

Advocacy & Public Policy

Smart Grid Oregon will work with smart grid stakeholders to craft and

advocate for effective public policies that promote and grow Oregon’s

smart grid industry and infrastructure.

Business Promotion Through informational events,

conferences, and other forums, Smart Grid Oregon will be a catalyst for smart grid entrepreneurs and leaders to meet,
