Labour Day Holiday-
Monday 9th of March
Whole school Athletics Carnival– Wednesday 11th of
March.
School Photos- Wednesday 18th of
March.
Just a reminder that Monday 9th March is a public holiday. There is no school on this day.
Next Wednesday we have our whole school athletics day at Joe Carmody Athletics Track
Newborough. It is fantastic to see we have a number of parent helpers and it would be even more
fantastic to see a large number of parents to support the children during the day. These days are
a great community event and require all hands on deck for it to be a great success. See you all
there.
Student Leadership
Our school Captains were announced at last week’s assembly. These children will be very good representatives for our school and I look forward to meeting with them on a regular basis to discuss learning, the school environment and other views they may have about our school. Our school captains, as voted by their peers and endorsed by staff are:
Alex Van Hienen Connor Hart
Ellie De Van Der Schueren Macey McCartney
All the students were really proud of themselves with equally proud families.
We also had our School Captains presented on Monday.
Blue House Captain - Josh Koot Vice Captain – Amelia Reid
Red House Captain – Luke Summersgill Vice Captain – Ethan Street
Yellow House Captain – Danielle Taylor Vice Captain- Kristy MacDonald
Green House Captain – Kaylie Sherriffs Vice Captain- Logan Mathison
We will also have a Student Representative Council with representatives from each class who will
look at student leadership and fundraising as well. We will work at looking to get the school
captains and our SRC working together effectively.

EBM INSURANCE
Attached with the newsletter is a letter from EBM about taking a personal insurance policy on your child. This is an
option for all parents to do privately if they wish, our obligation as a school is to pass it on to you if you wish to take
additional insurance out for any personal injury then you can enter into a private arrangement. Please read the
attached letter.
STUDENT MANAGEMENT
Parents would be aware that we operate a Reflection Room where students are counselled for any aggressive
behaviour in the yard. The reason we do this is to help students think about their behaviour, guide them in building
strategies to cope with challenging situations and make good choices. As you would also be aware, we provide an
extra 15 minutes reward play on a Friday afternoon to say “thank you” to all the children who have played nicely in
the yard all week – in other words, we are rewarding those who do the right thing. Any child who has been in the
Reflection Room during the week is not given this reward, instead, they are supervised inside. Please be very clear
that they are not given a second punishment but rather they are not given the reward that the other children have
earned.
ELECTRONIC EMAIL
A number of families are requesting to have their Snippets sent via email. At present we will still send a paper copy home to all eldest in the family. Just a reminder, Snippets are available on the school website (www.moe-southst-ps.vic.edu.au) as well. I would like to start receiving Snippets by email

SCHOOL PHOTOS
We have school photos coming up on Wednesday 18th of March so we are requesting that parents
return their envelopes with the correct money in it by Friday the 13th of March. We can’t actually
give you change because the money goes to a private company (Spargo Photography) with your
order, therefore we would appreciate it if you could have the correct money organised for each
individual envelope please. If you have more than one child and you are unable to put individual
payment in each envelope, then you are able to put the total amount for the siblings in the eldest
sibling’s envelope and be sure to mark on the empty envelopes that their payment is in their older
sibling’s envelope. All envelopes are to be handed in either before or on the day.
VEGGIE GARDEN NEWS
We’ve had a busy week in the outdoor classroom making chutney and green tomato pickles.
Please keep bringing the jars in and put them in the box provided on the table outside the staffroom. The kids are enjoying Thursdays in the outdoor classroom having animals visiting every week.

Through your kind donations each year we raise funds for various projects around the school, and this year we are aiming for new basketball rings, which the kids are very excited about. Your efforts are greatly appreciated, thanks again. Robyn Wildblood.

We will be travelling down by buses on the day and we would like to thank the Canteen for covering the cost of the buses. You will need to bring enough food and drink to last the whole day and to wear their house colours along with appropriate clothing for physical activity. No money is allowed. Our team for the WVPSSA Athletics Carnival to be held in May will be selected after our carnival. Mrs. Ross.
