Hibe, a Social Web 3.0 implementation

Hi everyone,

Following the recent introduction of the Social Web 3.0 concept1, I want to showcase how Hibe opens the way for a new social networking experience that goes beyond Facebook.

We released Hibe.com’s proofs of concept in 2009, received many constructive comments and will soon launch its final version.

The following slides showcase some of Hibe’s features and how they solve the problems of people like Debbie.

Before Hibe, I struggled every day to interact with my audiences that kept mixing up.

I used Web 2.0 services to help me but they were just adding to the complexity. Fact is, my audiences also mix up and overlap online.

I wished I could behave and share online the way I do in my real life. Here is how Hibe helps me achieve this.

I portray multiple

facets of my identity.

On Hibe, I create facets to

share subsets of my

identity with others.

A facet allows me to share

my interests, activities,

values, beliefs, affiliations...

Using facets, I portray as

many “Debbies” as I want

to my audiences.

My conversations

have a context.

On Hibe, I always start a

conversation by creating a

booklet about something.

In my booklet, I can add

videos, photos, links, texts

or any other content I want

people to comment on.

I can create as many

booklets as I want to share

with others.

I can opt out from

any conversation.

On Hibe, conversations

occur in booklets.

If I don’t like a conversation,

I simply “Unfollow” the

booklet to stop receiving its

content.

I always control which

conversations I follow from

others.

people to my facets.

Each time I start a

conversation, I select its

audience(s).

At all times, I can review

the audiences of my facets.

At all times, I can also

review what is shared

through my facets.

conditions.

On Hibe, I can limit a

facet’s audience by setting

access conditions.

I can set access conditions

based on booklets…

on people…

on locations and more.

These conditions allow me

to connect and interact

with various audiences.

Finally, I share online

like in my real life

social network.
