Basic working principle• Sample is taken above ground from auger or corer• By sideways removal the coring ring is scraped off to a

remaining soil volume of 16 ml (25-30 gr)• Sample can be field stored in methanol or capped and

cooled

special small leak proof glass jars

Cooling method: • Diffusion proof aluminium lined seals and

stainless coring ring assure no loss or sorption of volatiles

• In lab sample is uncapped and transferred into the glass jar for extraction

• Another (disturbed or undisturbed) sample is used for dry weight determination
