SORTING EQUIPMENT

Sorting Equipment type KS2 from Kallesoe Machinery A/S is a powerful machine for sorting lamellas before further processing of the wood in a hot-water press plant.

The sorting equipment illustrated above is preceded by a lamella destacker type LA2 feeding the lamellas into the three inlet buffers of the sorting equipment. These three belt conveyors deliver – in turn and over an elevator – a lamella to the sorting table itself. If the lamellas are marked with a dot colour code during sawing up, an automatic lamella turner will check if the lamellas are turned correctly.

At the sorting table, the lamellas are sorted manually. This can be done quickly and efficiently as the operator is only to identify the lamella grade by pushing the lamellas forward or backwards on the sorting table: The sorting itself is done automatically and this way the operator avoids having to lift and turn each lamella.

The lamellas are sorted in four grades: front and rear edge lamellas, middle lamellas and waste lamellas. The middle lamellas pass directly through for further transport to the glue application equipment. The other three are led to the out-let buffer over an elevator: The waste wood is wasted whereas the front and rear edge lamellas will be put back onto the belt according to the entered order.

The equipment can be fitted with a front edge control device to prevent errors during the lay-up and the glue application.

The speed of the sorting equipment is adjusted automatically in order to make optimum use of the press capacity and to achieve a smooth and stable operation. Change-over time at new orders is low and done fully automatically.
