What are we going to do?

• We are going to identify and incorporate interjections in the

writing process

But FIRST…What IS

an interjection

?

-An interjection is a word used to express strong or sudden feelings.

-Emotions such as fear, surprise, anger, love, and joy can all be expressed with an

interjection.

-Interjections often end with an exclamation point.

Can YOU think of some examples

of interjections?

Examples include words such as: Hi! Wow! Hurry! Stop! Ouch! Ah! …

and many, many more.

As a class, we are going to look at 5 EXAMPLES and see if we can identify

the interjection in each of these following sentences…

Example 1:Goodness! He listened to

the man's story and reported it to the police

immediately!
