Summer Bible Study
Great Themes of the Bible:
Knowing God
Tuesday mornings,
10-11;30 am, Chapel
8 Sessions –June 12, 19, 26, July 10, 17, and
August 7, 14, and 21
God’s people carried questions about their Cre-
ator which are mirrored in the Scriptures. They
wondered: What is God’s true nature? Can we
trust God to be loving, fair, and just? How can
we know the unknowable God? We wonder,
too! We explore these and other questions
which shape our faithful inquiry yet today. This
class will involve Bible study of scriptures from
small portions of the Old and New Testament,
all of which illuminate the theme of KNOW-
ING GOD. Contact colleen@kingave.org for
more questions.
Led by Rev. Colleen Ogle. Participants may
pre-register and pay for the student book
through REALM or email. Registration for the
book study closes June 1.
Sunday Mornings Education in June
10am
Reader’s Theatre Romp through the Gospel
of Mark – Each Sunday morning in June, we
will select a few different stories from the Gos-
pel of Mark for participants to read/act and then
discuss. Open casting will be part of the fun. If
you’re not a ham and don’t want to read, you
can be a silent “prop” and join the discussion
after the show. If you ever wanted to “play
God”—now’s your chance! If you’ve ever been
accused of being a “little devil” then you’ll have
that opportunity too. Each Sunday lesson will
feature new scriptures and theatre from the gos-
pel. Open to adults and youth. Meets in the
Chapel.

The dates of this year’s cam-paign are June 4-15. You can donate online through www.centurylink.com/fooddrive. The significance of this fundraising oppor-tunity is that the match from Century
Link is planned to be 75% or more! That means for every $1,000 donated, we will also get at least $750! You need to donate with a credit card! Thanks for your support for this important event for NNE-MAP. Contact Roy Clark at direc-tor@nnemappantry.org for questions.

Kidney Needed!
The husband of a King Avenue UMC member is in need of a kidney donor. The donor’s blood type must be A or O. If you are interested in learning more, please contact the church. This donation would be han-dled by the Ohio State Comprehensive Transplant Center. http://WexnerMedical.osu.edu/
KidneyDonor. Facts for Potential Living Kidney Donors
Donors do not have to be immediate family members and do not require matching blood types. Gender and race are also not factors.
Donors are usually between 18-65 years of age, in good physical/mental health and free from uncontrolled high blood pressure, diabetes, cancer, HIV/AIDS, hepatitis, and organ disease.
Hospital stay is 3 days and return to normal activity after 4-6 weeks.
Recipient medical insurance covers medical expenses of donation and follow-up care. Assistance programs are available for living donors to
cover additional expenses like travel.
Living with one kidney does not put donors at excess risk of dying prematurely versus living with two kidneys.

King Avenue United Methodist Church to Host “I Love You, Please Go Away! The Art & Science of Life-Giving Relationships”
Do you have problems or worries with current relationships? Are there rela-tionships you would like to fix? Do you have relationships you would like to begin? Do you want to deepen the experience of connection? King Avenue United Methodist Church is proud to welcome licensed psychotherapist Dr. Ling Lam to Columbus on Saturday, June 23 at 9 a.m. for a 4-hour workshop devoted to helping create deeper and more meaningful relationships.
Informed by cutting-edge neuroscience research and grounded in clinical experience gleaned from hun-dreds of real-life couple therapy sessions, Dr. Lam will present a holistic and practical approach to enhanc-ing intimacy, improving communications, rekindling passion, avoiding pitfalls, and deepening the aliveness experienced in relationships. All are welcome to attend the workshop, regardless of your relationship sta-tus, sexual orientation, gender identity, or age. Come ready to learn, to share, to ask questions, and to have fun. Registration is $10 per adult, $5 for high school and college students. Alternate activities will be provided for children up to age 12.
Ling Lam, Ph.D. is a Lecturer in the Counseling Psychology Department at Santa Clara University, where he teaches Couple Therapy and LGBTQI+ Counseling classes. He also provides onsite counseling at Google. Lam was a keynote speaker at the Gay Christian Network Conference in 2017. He holds a Ph.D. in Psychol-ogy from Institute of Transpersonal Psychology, a M.A. in Counseling Psychology from Santa Clara Univer-sity, a M.S. in Electrical Engineering and a B.S. in Electrical Engineering, both from Stanford University.
This program is part of King Avenue’s “Changing the Conversation” Speaker Series, which features Chris-tian thought leaders striving for inclusion of traditionally-marginalized people and communities.

King Avenue United Methodist Church to Host "Pain, Shame & Resilience: Where LGBTQI+ Meets Religion/Spirituality"
The longing to be authentic and the longing to be accepted are universal human emotional needs. Sometimes they come into conflict with each other, with rela-tional, psychological, and spiritual consequences. LGBTQI+ people who are also religious or spiritual can experience this conflict between authenticity and ac-ceptance. King Avenue United Methodist Church is proud to welcome licensed psychotherapist Dr. Ling Lam to Columbus on Sunday, June 24 at 7 p.m. for a pro-gram that looks at what happens when these longings conflict – which can be a
painful experience but also a pathway toward deeper resilience and wholeness. All are welcome to attend this program, regardless of your sexual orientation, gender identity, or age.
Ling Lam, Ph.D. is a Lecturer in the Counseling Psychology Department at Santa Clara University, where he teaches Couple Therapy and LGBTQI+ Counseling classes.
