As we start our time of prayer let us take a moment in silence before beginning with our prayer to the Trinity.

ALL:

In the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

Pope Benedict XVILEADER:

Jesus said"I praise you, Father Lord of heaven and earth, because you have hidden these things from the wise and learned, and revealed them to little children.”

We pray for our young people. We ask that they may be ambassadors of Jesus, bringing his life and love to the world.

But Jesus called the children to him and said, "Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these. I tell you the truth, anyone who will not receive the kingdom of God like a little child will never enter it."

for our young peopleThat through your grace, and with our youth and our energy, we may use our God-given gifts and talents to build the Kingdom of God.Lord Hear Us

for all young peopleThat we may be the generation who bring down the barriers that divide and discriminate; that we are the children who will become adults in a world where justice and peace unites races, cultures, creeds and nationalities.Lord Hear Us

Pope Benedict XVILEADER:Each day we will be united in prayers of preparation with schools, parishes and families across the UK. As we look forward to welcoming the Holy Father to the UK, we finish our time of prayer together as we say:

God of truth and love, we pray for Pope Benedict and look forward with joy to his forthcoming visit to our countries. May he be a witness to the unity and hope which is your will for all people. We make our prayer through Christ our Lord, Amen
