INDIAN REGISTRY ADMINISTRATOR HOURS OF OPERATION
As of April 1, 2013 the office of the Indian Registry Administrator will be open
Wednesday and Thursday 8:30 AM to 3:00 PM. The office closes for lunch from
12:00 PM and reopens at 1:00 PM. The last client will be seen at 3:00 PM
In order to renew your status card you will need valid picture identification as well
as a secondary piece of identification. This policy came into effect October 1,
2009.
As of April 1, 2011 the fee to renew your status card is $10.00 if you are a Splatsin
Band member, if you are not a Splatsin band member the fee is $45.00

SOCIAL WORKER
Position Purpose
Anticipated Start Date: May 30, 2016 Closing Date: April 29, 2016
The purpose of this position is to support Splatsin families and children
while providing a broad range of social services, such as: ensuring the
safety and providing guardianship services to Splatsin children,
developing individual and customized child and youth plans, conducting
investigations and providing emergency services, integrating
Secwepemc/Splatsin culture and values in day-to-day practice and
maintaining caseload and all necessary paperwork.
Position requirements:
Bachelor or Master’s degree in Social Work, Child & Youth Care, related degree, or equivalent. At least 2 years of relevant experience
Knowledge of First Nation issues, including communities, family structure, customs and traditions
Previous experience working within a First Nations community or organization is considered an asset
Valid driver’ license
Clear driver’s abstract
Criminal record check
Strong interpersonal skills
Excellent communication skills
Excellent listening skills
Strong ability to build relationships and rapport
High ethical standards
Able to work with minimum supervision
Discretion & respect for confidentiality

MAINTENANCE WORKER
Position Purpose
The purpose of this position is to ensure band housing is safe,
secure, in good repair and well maintained.
Position requirements:
Grade 12
At least 2 years education in a trade (equivalent experience is an asset)
Previous experience working within a First Nations community or organization is considered an asset.
Knowledge of the Splatsin Community is valued
Strong hands on skills, particularly in carpentry, plumbing and building maintenance
Effective oral and written communication skills
Able to build rapport with residents and colleagues
Good ability to problem solve
Able to use a computer
A reliable vehicle with appropriate insurance for work related purposes
Preference to those who have their own hand and power tools

BE BEAR AWARE
Spring is here and so are the bears. In order to minimize garbage
foraging make sure you have your garbage taken on time to your
curb on garbage day, lids secured, and seal your food waste as
best as possible. Notify Housing ASAP if there is a bear sighted in
your area.
!!SPRING CLEANING!!
All Splatsin Status Band Members are able to take
garbage and debris to the Armstrong Dump (3449
Powerhouse Rd RR 8, Armstrong, BC V0E 1B8)
on dump without charge. This includes all
household garbage, cardboard, glass recycling, metal and appliances.
THE HOUSING POLICY STATES:
Routine maintenance including “day to day up-keep on the house such as cleaning, and keeping the house tidy, washing the windows, maintaining the area surrounding the house so it is in a clean and sanitary condition and free of weeds and debris. No abandoned vehicle or vehicles not in working condition or any miscellaneous vehicle parts are to be left in the yard.”
Housing will be working towards ensuring that yards are free of debris and maintained in order to build community pride and continue to improve Housing here at Splatsin! Proper communication with housing is necessary. If you have any questions or concerns don’t hesitate to contact me directly at

HOW TO ACCESS MEDICAL PATIENT TRANSPORTATION

Here are the steps to take:
Local Transportation (Salmon Arm, Armstrong, Vernon, Kelowna)
1. Minimum Three (3) days’ notice to book local Medical
Transportation requests.
2. Call Judy Thomas (MPT Coordinator) at Splatsin Health
Services 250-838-9538 to check availability with your
appointment time and date.
3. Physician or Receptionist will need to sign or stamp the
bottom of the confirmation form. (It is your
responsibility to fully complete the form before
returning it to the Medical Driver or Medical
Transportation Coordinator).
Long Distance Transportation
1. Minimum 10 days’ notice to book travel arrangements.
2. Confirmation from your physician/specialist is required.
3. Call Judy Thomas (MPT Coordinator) with the time and date
of your appointment

4. The Medical Transportation Coordinator will make
arrangements based on the urgency of your situation. If the
doctor/Specialist has requested an escort, I will need to
receive prior approval from First Nations Health Authority.

1. Pick up a confirmation of attendance form from Splatsin
Health
2. Contact Judy Thomas if you are requesting a Purchase
Order to get to your medical appointment Purchase
Orders can take up to 24 hours to process.
3. Get your physician/specialist or receptionist to
sign/stamp the form and return to Judy Thomas for
reimbursement.
