Mufti always acted as yes-man of Delhi: NC

‘PDP has become safe haven for corrupt people’

GK NEWS NETWORK

Srinagar, June 4: Omar Abdul-lah's Political Secretary Tanvir Sadiq on Tuesday lashed out at PDP calling its patron (Mufti Muhammad Sayeed) as a yes man of BJP and its party as a safe haven for corrupt people.

Reacting to the statement of PDP Patron Tanvir said “Yes, Mufti sahib is a glaring exam-ple of a yes-man of Delhi and that was proved during PR Bill in the assembly” adding “He succumbed to Delhi’s dictates, and delivered the biggest blow to special status of state”

“The fact that BJP members had come all the way from Delhi to garner support for the PDP shows who seeks directions from Delhi” said Tanvir adding “It proves beyond doubt where his loyalties lay” he said. “For 40 years, PDP patron used to unfold Congress flags in every village of the state and now is using the green flag to hood-wink the people”

"People are wise enough

to understand the designs behind P DP ' s d ouble speak as they have experienced this characteristic of the party since its inception in the politics. Their only aim is to grab power by hook and crook” Tanvir said

Asking them to come out clear on their stand on Self rule Tanvir said “Now they are look-ing for some other ways and means to find a resolution, They have forgotten Self rule and not even once have they mentioned about it in their recent gather-ing, they should come out clear-ly to say that their self rule was just an imaginary document and its over” he said. “As self-rule balloon has burst without a whimper, this party will face the same fate “

“Why didn’t PDP patron speak about re-negotiation of NHPC when he was a minis-ter in Mir Qasim Sahib’s cabi-net or when he was the Home

Minister of India or even utter a word when he was the Chief Minister of the state” Tanvir said. “Just to play politics now he is trying to deceive people with false

information and promises” he added “In the same way his party is playing politics on AFSPA today and not even once has he spoken about this law when he was in power for the fear of losing his chair”

Calling this party a safe haven for corrupt people Tanvir said “The PDP leadership con-tinues to embarrass themselves shamelessly by getting all the corrupt people into their fold and they still have the audacity to then make ridiculous accusa-tion against the government”

“Mufti Sahib talks about corruption free society and on the other hand takes all the cor-rupt people into his party fold who have cases still pending in various anti-graft court” he said

adding “From Doda, to Kashmir all the ex-bureaucrats who have recently joined this party have cases pending against them”

“This party has now the distinction of being the only party whose majority of lead-ers have cases against them on corruption charges” he said adding “Amusingly all these ex- bureaucrats who have joined this party are the same ones who were charged by the PDP regime on corruption charges where wholesale corruption, nepotism, kickbacks in the purchase were order of the day” he said adding “by setting up the Vigilance Commission, re-constituting the Accountability Commission and empowering people through Right to Infor-mation Act and Public Service Guarantee Act, Omar led gov-ernment has created substan-tial means to reduce chances of corruption” adding “This will help in identifying unscrupu-lous elements in the adminis-tration and then they can join the Ink pot party.”

Limit Amarnath Yatra to 15 days: TeH

Srinagar, June 4: Tehreek- e- Hurriyat (TeH) on Tuesday said the political stability in the region would be a far fetched dream until the Kashmir issue was addressed in accordance with the aspirations of the people of Jammu Kashmir.

This was stated at a meeting of Tehreek executive council held here today with its chairman Syed Ali Shah Geelani in chair.

The meeting adopted a resolu-tion, asking both India and Paki-stan to adopt a rational approach vis-à-vis Kashmir issue.

“Bilateral talks between the two countries may serve some pro-visional and material gains but it won’t serve any purpose vis-à-vis Kashmir issue if the prime party (Kashmiris) and their aspirations are ignored. For, people of Jammu and Kashmir are the principal party

to the Kashmir issue. Any solution thrust upon the people against their aspiration won’t be acceptable,” the Resolution, according to Tehreek spokesman, states, adding that “Jammu and Kashmir was never a part of India and it is not a part India. The present turmoil in state is a fall-out of forced control of New Delhi on the state. For, India has established its control on the state through its might, military power and deceitful maneuvers.”

“The executive council unan-imously declared that govern-ment of India is suppressing the genuine voice of people through its arrogance military power and foxy politics. New Delhi has unleashed a reign of terror and is carrying out cultural aggression by promoting moral wayward-ness, nudity and use of drugs and narcotics. They in order to over-

power the sentiments of youth brought about changes in the edu-cation system. The mass killing and rehabilitation of outsiders in the state are the part their game plan. The agencies are hell-bent on changing the demography of the state. Lakhs of laborers, arti-sans, nomads and beggars are being pushed in state to damage the social fabric and economy of the people,” a TeH spokesman quoted the executive members of the party as having said.

Regarding Amarnath Yatra, the executive members clarified that people are against yatra but stressed that it (Yatra) needed to be managed on Uttrakhand pat-tern. “Government of India is politicizing the religious pilgrim-age and under its garb imple-ments its political agenda. The increasing number of yatris and

extending the specified period by two months have adverse effect on the environment and ecol-ogy of the area,” the resolution reads, adding that Yatra period be limited to 15 days and lim-ited number of yatris should be allowed as already done in Gan-gotri in Uttaranchal.”

“Natural resources and forests are on the verge of extinction and power resources are exploited by the Delhi government and its forces. The armed forces are indiscriminately felling trees in forests and they have occupied 28 lakh kanal of agricultural and forest land,” the members alleged.

Condemning the continued house detention of Syed Ali Shah Geelani, the members said there is no justification for unconstitutional detention of its chairman.

DFP to hold demonstration on June 17Calls for shutdown on PM’s visit

Srinagar, June 4: Demo-cratic Freedom Party (DFP) on Tuesday decided to hold protests on June 17, at Pratap Park here against, what it called, New Delhi’s oppres-sion in Kashmir. It urged the people to observe complete shutdown when Prime Min-ister Dr Mahmohan Singh arrives in the Valley.

The decision to this effect was taken at a meeting of Party members held here today with chairman Shabir Ahmad Shah in chair. All the district heads and other party workers par-ticipated in the meeting.

“ I nt er n at ion a l community should take notice of the critical situation in Kashmir and a strategy needs to be worked out to face the challenges that the resistance move-ment is confronting,” said Shah while addressing the meeting, adding that “Our political struggle is for the right to self-determina-tion. The martyrs who laid down their lives in the move-ment have internationalized the Kashmir issue. It is the

responsibility of the political leaders to respect the sacrific-es of the people and take their mission to its logical end”.

“The separatist leaders who have spent 10 -15 years in jails are being

awarded life imprisonments and the arrest of the Hurri-yat leaders is going on. People are being implicated in false cases,” he said, adding that “The killers of the innocent youth during 2008, 2009 and 2010 are still free and have

not been brought to book,” Shah added.

“The hanging of Afzal Guru has come as a blow to the Kash-mir nation. For, the judge said the Guru was to be hanged to satisfy the collective conscience of Indian nation.

New Delhi even denied the Afzal’s wife and son last meeting with him. To keep living people in jails makes sense but New Delhi is keeping dead people in jails to which the whole nation is protesting and demanding his mortal remains,” Shah added.

Eco-March in Sgr Srinagar, June 4: The Depart-ment of Ecology Environment and Remote Sensing organized an Eco-March today from Nehru Park to Grand Palace Hotel. The Eco-March was meant for creat-ing awareness among the people regarding the Environmental issues in the State. The rally was flagged off by Commis-sioner/ Secretary, Forest Depart-ment, Sheikh Ejaz Iqbal in pres-ence of Principal Chief Conserva-tor of Forests, J&K Vinod Ranjan, Director Ecology Environment and Remote Sensing, Suresh Chugh.
