ST. CLARE’S PRO-LIFE GROUP THOUGHT OF THE WEEK:
“If justice and equality mean anything, then they apply
to everyone, including unborn children, the most defenseless and innocent among us.”
...Pope Francis
The Vigil Light Burning This Week Is In
Memory of Rod Picchioni
HOW MUCH TO GIVE ...FOR GOD LOVES A PERSON WHO GIVES CHEERFULLY.”
(2 Corinthians 9:7) Due to the early printing of this bulletin, we do not
have the collection numbers for July 1st. We will print them in the next bulletin. As always, thank you for your sacrificial offerings of gratitude!
AIR CONDITIONING UPDATE
As many of you have noted, the installation of the new air conditioner is moving right along. At the time of the printing of this
bulletin, we are expecting the unit in the front of the Church to be operational first. We can expect the completion of the project to be within a week
or two if not sooner. Thank you all for your patience and as you can
see that patience has paid off.
THE SACRAMENT OF BAPTISM
Welcome to Charles Alexander Segreti and Vincent D’Ametta who were
born again of water and the Holy Spirit here in our Baptismal Font on June 24, 2018.
MEETING POPE FRANCIS
Father John Cunningham, who is one of our visiting priests,
attended the Vatican Observatory Summer School , where 24
astronomy students from all over the world were invited for a month
of classes. The students, faculty and staff of the summer school were invited to have an audience with Pope Francis
where he offered an address about being believers and scientists. Father Cunningham was then introduced and
shook his hands. He found Pope Francis to be “very warm and friendly.”
WELCOME FATHER RAJ & FATHER LEO
Please welcome Father Raj Kipoor,
who is visiting with us for the month of July. Father Raj is an administrator of a
seminary in India. Father teaches modern theology to the seminarians. This is not his first trip to America, but is his first time in New York City. Father Leo William is a priest of India
who is studying for his Doctorate in Theology at the Pontifical College of St. Paul in Rome. He will be with us for
an extended stay through September. Please help us to make them feel welcome.

UPDATE ON THE NEW ALTAR
Construction on the new altar which will house the Tabernacle in the back of the Sanctuary will begin on Monday, July 9, 2018. It should take about two weeks to complete. As many of you
know this was an important project Father Aufieri wanted to accomplish. Thank you to the many
parishioners who have made generous donations to underwrite the cost of the
installation of the new altar. If you have not had a chance to make a donation and would like to, please feel free to drop off
your offering at the Rectory.
SAN SILVERIO COMMITTEE OF MORRIS PARK
Thank you to Domenic Scotti, the Board & their loyal members for all their time and effort in facilitating the Novena to San Silverio, the Triduum to St. Anthony and the two street
processions accompanying them. The beautiful flowers brightened up our Church. Our Parish underwrote the cost of the Italian Band for the St. Anthony Procession. A great deal of hard
work went into these 11days by the Committee! Grazie Tanto!

If any member of your family or if you know any one that is “Homebound” and would
like to be visited by a priest to receive Holy Communion at home, please call the Rectory, so a priest may visit them.

Dear Brothers and Sisters, It is with a great deal of pleasure that I let you know we will have a wonderful priest joining us here at Saint Clare’s and Saint Frances Xavier. His name is Father Paul Waddell and he will be the Parochial Vicar of our two Churches. He comes from Immaculate Conception-Assumption Parish in Tuckahoe, NY. Father Matt Reiman will remain with us for the year. Please see the letter from the Cardinal below. Father Paul will join us in a few weeks. I know that you will make him feel right at home in our wonderful parishes. God Bless You,
