ADULT FAITH FORMATION
Scripture study meetings are continuing throughout the summer. Meetings are held on Monday evenings from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM and Wednesday mornings from 9:30 AM to 11:30 AM. Both groups meet in the St. Joseph Room.
The Monday evening group joins in benediction of the most Blessed Sacrament and the Wednesday group often goes out for a meal after their meeting. Plan on coming to one of these meetings and getting to know Sean McVeigh, the new Director of Adult Faith Formation. The approach for the summer is Lectio Divine of the following Sunday Mass readings.
We are currently taking names of those interested in becoming Catholic or who simply want to learn more about God and the Catholic faith by participating in the RCIA program. Many individuals who have already signed up are very excited to get started. There will be an informal get together on August 16 at 6:30 PM in the St. Joseph Room. Mark your calendar and come on out if you are interested in getting involved. We are asking for your help in finding people who are interested in attending. Please think of all the people you know in the area and consider inviting at least one who may benefit from the RCIA program or any of the other Adult Faith Formation programs. You just never know what God might do in that person’s life through what our parish offers in these programs.
We are working on preparing other programs for the adults of the parish. If there is a specific topic or program you would be interested in proposing and attending, please call Sean at the parish office or email him at s.mcveigh@dbqarch.org.

All ministers are asked to sign in when they arrive for mass. There is a sign-in binder in the ushers closet at the top of the stairs for lectors, eucharistic ministers, ushers and door greeters. The sign in for altar servers is on the table in the vesting sacristy and for sacristan's in the working sacristy. Music ministers can sign in the binder on the piano in the St. Joseph room. THANK YOU for all of your service and dedication to our ministries. You are greatly appreciated!

St. Joseph Fun Days Financial Information—we enjoyed great
success with the rejuvenation of Fun Days which emphasized our
faith, families and the community of St. Joseph and Marion. There
was, too, a financial dimension to the event, the results of which are
published in the bulletin today. While the main emphasis was not to
raise funds, we did enjoy a profit, for which we are very grateful.
Thank you for your support of this great event and we look forward
to the blessings God will bring to us during next year’s Fun Days.
Notre Dame Pastors’ Institute—On Monday, I will depart for a four day School Pastors’
Institute sponsored by the Alliance for Catholic Education (ACE). Catholic pastors from
throughout the United States will be attending during which time we will learn about and
discuss the Catholicity of our schools, the dynamics of pastoring a Catholic school, the
governance structure of the schools, fund raising and making our schools available and
affordable to minority families. The institute will conclude on Thursday, July 19th. Several
priests from the Archdiocese will be in attendance. I’m looking forward to being with my
brother Dubuque priests and meeting other priests during the institute as well as bringing
back lots of ideas and inspiration having attended. Please pray for us.

Grandparenting: Leaving a Legacy of Faith Conference All grandparents are invited to participate in a day to celebrate the important role of grandparenting in family life. Connect with other grandparents and hear from dynamic speakers on how to leave a legacy of faith for your children and grandchildren. The day includes keynotes, breakout sessions, Mass with Archbishop Jackels, lunch, and more. The Archdiocesan “Grandparenting: Leaving a Legacy of Faith” conference will take place on Saturday, August 25, from 9:00 AM – 3:00 PM at St. Mary’s in Waverly. Learn more and register by August 13 at www.dbqarch.org/grandparent-day. For questions, contact Matt Selby, Director of Marriage and Family Life, at (800) 876-3546, ext. 233 or m.selby@dbqarch.org. Note from St. Joseph Quilting Ministry Thank you for the many donations of fabric and thread to our quilting ministry. We continue to make and distribute many quilts to area agencies. The recipients are so grateful. We use batting to stuff the quilts. Buying large rolls of batting on sale is the most economical way to purchase it. Alas we are on our last roll and need $$ to be able to buy more. We would appreciate donations to be able to buy more batting. Thank you!
