The Bread of Life Food Pantry Located at
Newman Congregational Church
Now in its ninth year of operation, the
Bread of Life Food Pantry provides assistance to
approximately 200 families who visit the Pantry each
month.
At the Bread of Life Food Pantry, clients choose food
items according to the needs and size of their
households. All are welcome.
At this time volunteer participation and monetary
donations which are necessary to provide food
assistance are being received at lower level then in the
past. Thank you for your support in the past and
hopefully your continued support in the future.
SIGN UP SHEETS FOR VOLUNTEERS ARE
AVAILABLE IN THE COMMUNITY ROOM
The Pantry is open the second and fourth Tuesdays
of each month. In the event of bad weather, the
pantry will not open as scheduled if the East
Providence schools are dismissed early or are
closed for the day. For more information, call 401-
434-4742.

We remember our faithful departed
throughout November. All are welcome
to inscribe the names of deceased loved
ones in the Book of Remembrance, near
the baptismal font. If you wish to
memorialize a loved one with a donation, please use the All
Souls Remembrance Envelope at the entrances to the
Church. You may place the envelope, with your loved
one’s name, in the regular collection basket. Those names
will be in repose near the baptismal font. All our deceased
loved ones will be remembered in each Mass during the
month of November.
Due to the Holiday there will be no session
with Fr. Richard this week.
Next session will be on November 30th.
Biblical Journey
General Theme of the Reflections:
“I DESIRE MERCY NOT SACRIFICE AND THE
KNOWLEDGE OF GOD MORE THAN BURNT
OFFERINGS” – Hosea 6:6
Ninth Week: Thursday, Nov 30th, at 7 PM
“KNOWING is ‘REJOICING’”
November 18-19, 2017
The Pastor’s Corner
The month of November is flying by very quickly! Our
thanks to Ron, Sandi, Keith, the choir, and Sr. Perpetua for
preparing the very memorable liturgy for our deceased
parishioners. This is where St. Margaret’s shines; the
Community praying and worshipping together. So many
family members thanked me (for all of us) after Mass last
Sunday. It simply reinforces our biblical tradition to pray
for the dead. May they rest in peace.
Next up is the Rumford Ecumenical Community
Thanksgiving Service on Tuesday, Nov. 21st at 7:30 PM. We
will be hosting the celebration and if you can bake
something for the collation afterwards, please email Ann
Conlon at acconlon@cox.net or call the rectory and tell Beth,
our new secretary, of your willingness to help. Don’t be
bashful or “hide your baking talent under a bushel basket!”
Beginning next Sunday, November 26, there will be a
role reversal at the parish. Fr. Richard is staying here, and I
am leading 30 pilgrims to the Holy Land. This pilgrimage
to the holy places was cancelled in 2014, and praise, God,
everything has been quiet in Jerusalem for months. More
news about this next week, but everything is prepared and
covered at the parish during my time away. I do ask for
your prayers and intercession as we journey to Capernaum,
Nazareth, Mt. Tabor, Jericho, Qumran (the Dead Sea),
Jerusalem, Bethlehem, Ein Karem (the visit of Mary to
Elizabeth), and Jaffa. The pilgrims also will pray for all of
you along the journey. You will be remembered in every
daily Mass I celebrate along the way. You can follow some
of where we’re going on my blog from 2013, Msgrdarcy.org.
Finally, as we soon come to the end of another liturgical
year on the Solemnity of Christ the King, it is a time to
reflect back on the blessings, progress, disappointments,
and remaining challenges that confront us as the faith
community known as St. Margaret’s. As we prepare for our
great national Thanksgiving holiday, I cannot thank you
enough for the encouragement, support, and collaboration
you offer me as your pastor. Having shared in the pastoral
convocation last week for the priests of our diocese, we
have much to do to reach out to the young adults, divorced,
remarried, and the disillusioned in the Church. We engage
them one at a time. Join me in this most noble task.
