Baptism: Parents par ticipate in a Baptism seminar to deepen their under standing of
the sacrament. A pre-registration interview is required. Contact the Parish Office to make an
appointment.
Bereavement Support Ministry: A team offer s suppor t to par ishioners who are gr ieving
the loss of a loved one. Contact the Parish Office for more information.
Children’s Liturgy of the Word: The same Word adults listen to in the liturgy is
proclaimed to children at their level of understanding. Leaders encourage them to know Jesus
as a friend. We welcome children age three to grade two.
Marriage: Couples wishing to celebrate the Sacrament of Marr iage should ar range an
interview by calling the Parish Office a minimum of six months prior to their wedding date to
start their preparation.
Michener Centre Ministry: A pastoral care team makes weekly visits to par ishioners at
the centre, offering them the Eucharist.
Pastoral Care: Our community reaches out in faith and love to the sick, the elder ly, and
the lonely; in hospital, nursing homes and the housebound. Please notify the Parish
Office if you or someone you know is in need of this ministry.
Prayer Groups: St. Mary’s Thur sday prayer group meets after the morning Mass to
pray the rosary. The Saturday prayer group meets at 4pm and offers prayers for the clergy
and for peace. Everyone is welcome. Both groups meet in the prayer room beside the north
doors.
R.C.I.A. and C.I.C.: A faith journey for adults and/or children (7 years & up) that leads
to Baptism and full reception into the Catholic Church. Contact the Parish Office for further
information.
Sacrament of the Sick: For those who are ill or facing surgery, etc. The grace and
strength of this healing anointing is shared with those who request it. Call the Parish Office.
Sacrament Preparation For School Age Children: Parents, Par ish and Catholic Schools
share the responsibility of forming children in their Catholic faith. Preparation is vital in the
understanding of the sacraments of Reconciliation, Eucharist, and Confirmation. All play a
role to ensure that our children receive the sacraments with joy.
New Parishioners: We welcome all new par ishioners and encourage you to register and
become involved in parish ministry.

WHAT’S HAPPENING IN OUR PARISH
Blessing of the Graves The annual Blessing of the Graves Ceremony for
our parish will be held on Sunday, September 10th. This will take place at the three cemeteries of
Alto Reste Red Deer Cemetery (near Michener)
Mount Calvary All three services will begin at 2:00pm.
Please gather at the entrance to the cemetery for prayer and then a deacon will bless the graves.
SACRAMENTAL PREPARATION 1st EUCHARIST & 1st RECONCILIATION REGISTRATION:
(Grade 2 and up) Tuesday, September 12th @ 6:30pm in the church.
A copy of your child’s baptism certificate is required unless baptized at St. Mary’s.

Development and Peace $3.8 Million for Relief efforts in Africa and Yemen
Development and Peace – Caritas Canada would like to express its profound gratitude to Canadians across the country for their rapid
and generous response to the Government of Canada’s Famine Relief Fund to raise monies for the severe food crisis in northeast
Nigeria, Somalia, South Sudan and Yemen. “We are deeply thankful for our donors and the Government of
Canada for their help in providing life-saving relief to tens of thousands of men, women and children who are in imminent peril
in Africa and Yemen,” says Serge Langlois, Executive Director, Development and Peace.
Bible Study: The Women of the Gospels Missionaries of God’s Love
The Gospels portray women as significant and influential members of Jesus’ entourage as he proceeds from his

The Clothing Zone Victory Church is operating a clothing bank for the Red Deer area. They see
400 people a month come through their doors. Because we are such a giving
community, we would like our parishioners to know that this is a great option
to donate unused clothing. Whether we are cleaning out
our closets or for families whose kids grew a size or two
over the summer, The Clothing Zone would gladly take
them. They are located in Oriole Park at 98 Oberlin Ave.
