When Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judea, in the days of King Herod, behold, Magi
from the east arrived in Jerusalem, saying, “Where is the newborn king of the Jews? We saw His
star at its rising and have come to do Him homage.” Mt 2:1-2

Your Parish St. Vincent de Paul Society
Really Needs Your Help. No, we are not
asking for more donations. Our St. Wil-
liam~/St. John faith community has been more
than generous in its financial support of our mission
over the years. We are asking for something else –
VOLUNTEERS!
Our mission is to help the needy within our parish
borders. This typically involves a pair of our Vincen-
tians visiting clients in their homes, doing an assess-
ment of their needs and providing the appropriate
help. The average home visit lasts about 15-20
minutes. In a typical year, we will make almost
300 home visits and provide assistance to over
1,500 individuals. The most common requests are
for food, and help with rent or utilities. We also
provide other types of assistance, such as clothing
and information about other groups who may be
able to provide help.
Do you feel called to answer Pope Francis’ plea to
help the needy? If so, we need you. The more peo-
ple we have willing to share the work, the lighter
the burden on each individual. Our goal is
to have enough members so that no one is
making more than 4 to 6 calls a month.
You are welcome to attend one of our
meetings to become more familiar with our
ministry. We meet on the 2nd Wednesday
of each month at 6:30pm in Donnelly Hall.
Our next conference meeting is scheduled
for Wednesday, January 10th.

…...an annual, local oppor-
tunity to march in unity
with those also marching in
D.C. The annual March for
Life is to remind us of the 1973 ruling by the Supreme Court to
legalize abortion, making it available on demand in all 50 states.
All are welcome to march in peaceful, prayerful protest and cel-
ebrate the many lives saved from Respect Life efforts thru the
years. We open in prayer at 5:00 pm at IHM, march to the Bur-
lington Courthouse, where we will gather in the historic build-
ing (Circuit Courtroom) for warmth, fellowship, refreshments
and opportunity to hear State
Representative and Senate updates of life issues in Kentucky.
You will hear inspiration to keep us inspired in our dedication to
the unborn and how you can get involved locally to support All
Life. https://www. facebook.com/events/149638125804026/.
Diocesan Pro - l i fe News
In 2018, the Pro-Life Office will place a one-page newspaper
advertisement commemorating the 45th Anniversary of the
Roe vs. Wade decision. We have also secured a digital bill-
board off I-75 SB between the 5th & 12th street ramps. This
advertisement and media campaign draws attention to the
Supreme Court’s Decision that legalized abortion and the
deliberate and massive attack on the most vulnerable mem-
bers of society, the unborn, that requires courage and willing-
ness of persons and institutions to speak out. This campaign
witness’ that the Diocese of Covington community is a “Face
of Pro-Life”. Individual names will no longer be collected, but
donations from parishes are requested to contribute to the
cost of the 1-page newspaper advertisement & media cam-
paign. Please mail donations to: Diocese of Covington Pro-
Life Office 1125 Madison Ave. Covington. - Pro-Life office at
859-392-1500.

Feast of St. William of Bourges; Wednesday, January 10th. This is a good day for us as a parish, as it is the time we celebrate the patron saint of our parish of St. William! It is, in fact, January 10th is our parish feast day!
God our father, in Saint William, your bishop, you gave a light to your faithful people.
You made him a pastor of the church to feed your sheep with his word and to teach
them by his example. Help us by his prayers to keep the faith he taught and follow the
way of life he showed us. Grant this through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, who
lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen

My Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,
I have often wondered at the joy of the wise men upon seeing the Christ
child. They had travelled so far, and had such a longing and spirit of
anticipation.
There are many Christmas hymns which we know. One of them is "Oh
Holy Night." In it, is the line, "fall on your knees."
As for me that sums up this Feast of the Epiphany.
All God's Blessings then,
Fr. Hils
