How to get started selling on Catawiki
Start selling at Catawiki's online auctions
catawiki.com
Every month over 14 million people come to Catawiki to place their
bids on more than 200,000 special objects.
Catawiki is the fastest growing online auction platform in Europe.
Our platform connects people from all over the world who want
to buy and sell unique and extraordinary objects online.
Starting each Friday, Catawiki hosts over 300 weekly auctions
across 80 different categories from modern art to classic cars
and from watches to wine.
In-house experts curate the auctions, guaranteeing varied and high
quality lots. The secure payment system provides a simple and secure
method of transaction. With millions of visitors from across the world
every month, Catawiki is a widely trusted platform for selling high
quality and hard-to-find objects online.
What is Catawiki?
Catawiki’s auctions begin every Friday and end on set days of the week.
Every day more than 70 auctions end.
The bidding for all lots starts at €1. This encourages people to bid and creates
a snowball effect. Bidders become more engaged; they develop a sense of
ownership of the lot and are therefore often willing to bid more. According to
our statistics, lots that start at €1 see much more activity and ultimately end up
selling at higher prices.
For lots with a minimum estimated value of €200, it’s possible to add a reserve
price. If your lot’s reserve price hasn’t been met when the auction ends, your lot
will not be sold and you won’t have to pay any commission.
Once the buyer has paid, you can ship your lot. You will be paid
shortly after.

Why sell through Catawiki?
Thousands of people compete against each other in our auctions
every day. This often leads to exceptional results.
High revenues
Catawiki combines the best features of online and traditional auctions.
Our weekly auctions have the convenience of being held online and
are trustworthy as they are curated by our team of in-house experts,
just like at traditional auction houses.
In fact, one of the main reasons why Catawiki can help sellers achieve
high sale prices is our team of in-house experts. They are nationally
and internationally recognised specialists in their fields who review
every lot offered up for auction and curate every auction. Our curated
auctions build more trust for our bidders which encourages them
to bid more.
Why sell through Catawiki?
People from all over the world have the chance to place their bids
on your lot.
International reach
Every month, Catawiki sees millions of potential buyers from all over
the world. Our platform is available in 17 languages including English,
German, French, Dutch, Italian, Spanish, Chinese, and Portuguese.
Whereas traditional auctions are often limited to one geographical
area, online auctions open up the world for buyers and sellers.
Bidders can easily find and place their bids on lots from all across
the globe, increasing their chances of finding that last piece for their
collection or that one special object they’ve been searching for.
Why sell through Catawiki?
With over 70 auctions closing every day, you can sell lots very
quickly on Catawiki.
Swift & secure sales
Catawiki auctions over 50,000 objects every week in over 300
auctions. Since new auctions start every week, you can sell your
objects very quickly.
Catawiki acts as an intermediary between the buyer and the seller
to provide secure transactions. The seller is not required to ship
the lot until they receive confirmation that the lot has been paid for
by the buyer.
Why sell through Catawiki?
Low commission fees
There is no limit to the number of lots that you can offer up and there is no
cost to offer up lots for auction. You only pay a commission fee when your
lot is sold.
The commission fee for sellers is 12.5% of the winning bid excluding VAT.
Commission fees are used for extensively promoting our auctions. Your
lots will be promoted in several ways - through online advertisements,
social media, emails and print advertising, just to name a few.
Catawiki’s commission fees are considerably lower than most
traditional auction houses.
Why sell through Catawiki?
What kind of objects can I offer up for auction? All lots offered up for auction must have a minimum estimated value of €75.
This is because our buyers come to Catawiki in search of something not only
rare and extraordinary, but also of value. These are the kind of objects that
carry emotion, hold historical or cultural value or are objects of interest that
will capture the attention of our audience.
The objects in Catawiki’s auctions range from stamps and comics to jewellery,
antiques, fashion and more.
We have a unique positioningCatawiki focuses on the market segment between general online
marketplaces and high-end auction houses. This gives Catawiki
a unique positioning and means you can sell a wide range of
special objects.
