th thWave - basics (level 6 to 10 )
‘Straw Wave’ activity helps the students to make them understand:[1] Wave is a disturbance (or oscillation) that travels with or without medium.
Out of solid, liquid, and gas – wave travels the fastest in solid, and slowest in gas.

In the ‘Straw Wave’ activity, wave is produced when tickled at one end of the straw. It appears as if straws are moving, but
in reality wave travels because of disturbances created. When the straw is held at a stretched position, the wave travels
faster as compared to when it is kept in the loose position.

What is the role of energy in wave travel?
Sound waves require a medium like air to travel. Whereas, light waves don’t require any medium to travel.
