Streetlife Vienna #1

The Idea The voice of the public, put on the walls, exaggerated without any borders and limits, these are graffitis. In Vienna there are many places where you find them. Some legal, some wildly sprayed but not legal using public spaces beyond the provided “Graffiti-Areas”.

I don’t see it as my duty to judge if a graffiti is legal by means of being on a legal wall, or what the message is. For me it’s a documentation of great graffitis in Vienna.

This is the first book about Vienna’s Streetlife, since graffitis are permanently renewed and overpainted, this series of books might never end.

Most photographs where taken along the “Donaukanal” - easy found at Underground station “Schwedenplatz”

Chapter 1

Faces

Graffiti-faces mostly look very funny. Here you’ll find a selection of “hot” faces directly from the Vienna Streetlife scene.

Chapter 2

Details

A graffiti tells a story, thus transports a message. These disclosures comprise sometimes out of single words, word groups, phrases or sentences; occasionally they are released as signs, drawings or symbols.

Chapter 3

Stencils

Hit & run - within seconds a stencil is on the wall, thus delivering the message. The diversion of the expressions is very wide, here you’ll find some “straight forward” stencils, the more controversial subjects I have added a separate chapter.

Chapter 4

Controversial

Some of the statements found on the walls are taking up subjects rather unmannerly, unmerciful even vicious.

There are no borders, no limits, religion, politics, every day life - freedom of speech - and - freedom of thought - these are displayed here.
