Lock all doors and windows at night and when leaving your property. Use a dead bolt on your lock as these can only be opened using a key. Never lend your keys to anyone who is not a tenant in your property. If keys get lost, report the matter to your landlord. Lock all expensive/precious items in your bedroom before leaving the house or better still do not keep precious items in your rented accommodation.
OCK
If someone breaks into your property, dial 999.Do not confront them. Your safety is more important
than any material goods.
HONE
NSURANCE
Regularly check the security of your rented house. Make sure all doors and windows shut securely. If concerned, please contact your landlord or complex manager. If you have further concerns about security please contact the UCC Accommodation Office.
ECURITY
Currently a student’s best option for insuring your goods is through the home insurance of your parents. This is really worth doing, particularly for your more expensive items like laptops, jewellery, bicycles, TVs etc.
