Technology Announcement Dear Students, As an online learner, having access to the technology required for class is imperative. It is

very important that you have at least a primary, secondary, and tertiary source of internet access. Basically, you need to make sure you have back-up plans in place in case your main internet method is suddenly not available, because such a situation can impede your success in the online classroom. This is also important because the School of Health Sciences (SHS) Late Policy (see your syllabus) clearly states “Personal computer/software/internet connectivity issues and course blocks are not considered extenuating circumstances.”

Please take some time to think about what you would do if you did not have your usual internet access to class. For example, what specifically is your Plan A? Plan B? Plan C? A few suggestions to consider:

Your local public library An area restaurant that has free WIFI like a Starbucks or McDonald’s A relative or friend close by who is willing to have you come over and use their internet or

computer Investigate other wireless options for your computer such as a MIFI or similar device. Know in advance what places are available in your community. As you reflect on some of

these ideas, maybe you have additional ones, too, aside from these few suggestions. ACTION:
