Globalization - Branding - Identity - Los Angeles - Architecture......

Globalization- The contemporary world is not like the Mona Lisa; singular and well defined as the epitome of Western Art. Our global view has been turned upside down. Distorted. By communication; perceived and real. The current world is a crazy, hazy collage. Homogeneous in the fact that we are all now touching and affecting one another. But diverse as ever as new relationships, under-standings, and identities are formed and others lost. Nature has been a source of over-riding impermanence in human life since the beginning. Impermanence is still present. However nature is set aside, as now we cre-ate our own impermanence. Customizing, individualizing, creating and destroying ever more easily and efficiently. The city of Los Angeles is no different than this. Our old definitions of what defines and represents a city are now obsolete. We must be open to new ideas. For Los Angeles, this means looking at the city as a network of connections, epitomized by its famous free-ways, rather than as a single, static entity.
