The Tamil Nadu Teachers Education University has been
established by the Tamil Nadu Government Act 33 of 2008. The
Tamil Nadu Teachers Education University was established for the
cause of promoting excellence in Teacher education. This University
is unique in nature relatively to the other Universities since its
assignment is to promote Excellence in Teacher Education and
produce dynamic and smart teachers for the benefit of the Society
and the Nation at large. The University is an affiliating one with the
jurisdiction of Tamil Nadu. The University offers B.Ed., M.Ed.,
M.Phil., and Ph.D Programmes. Tamil Nadu Teachers Education
University has established six Departments of Study and Research
and about 731 Colleges of Education are affiliated to Tamil Nadu
Teachers Education University including government, government-
aided and self-financing colleges in whole of the Tamil Nadu State.
The Department of Pedagogical Sciences is a beehive of
academic activities from its inception in 2014. It is one of the
significant Departments of Tamil Nadu Teachers Education
University. The members of the faculty keep in constant touch with
the latest developments in the field of Pedagogical Sciences. The
research activities of the department's Faculty are in organic
harmony with their teaching activities.The vision of the Department
is to prepare competency based commitment oriented teachers, to
provide pedagogical formation for the teacher candidates for the
educational subjects and to give information of students for the
doctoral program in the field of pedagogy. The members of the
faculty carry out research work in accordance to the general plan of
the department. The system of preparation of scientific and
pedagogical staff actively functions at the department through
postgraduate studies.
About the University
The Department of Pedagogical Sciences
Everyone has dreams, goals, and unique skills, however,
requires planning and action is very important strategies of success
in every area of life at present technical scenario. The Seminar aims
at analyzing the strategic directions focused on skill development
and goal setting strategies for urban and rural students. Learning
how to set goals and work to achieve them is one of the skills that
students need to learn. Life skills are a basic that gives students for
success in their life. Future generation of students should know
about their skills and goals that will be important to navigate life
successfully. As an educator, it is our responsibility to help students
reach their full potential by teaching necessary life skills. Learning
experiences should help students learn how to set and take steps
towards accomplishing goals. Goal setting is an important life skill
that students should learn for their development of career.
Basically students have some skills it has to be brought and
utilize. By setting goal and measuring their achievement, students
are able to see what they have done and what they are capable of. It
gives the confidence and assurance that they need to believe they
can achieve higher goals. The Rural and urban Future Programmes
therefore facilitates new thinking and broad agreement with respect
the vision of making skillful persons in society, strategies and plans
also to be create by our government for rural and urban economic
development and the reduction of rural and urban poverty and
inequality.
The overall aim of the seminar is to develop an emerging field
at skills and goal setting strategies are the vital and central
component for structural changes for the future achievement of the
rural and urban students. In our approach to tackle the students
achievements, it will build on the existing body of work on education
and culture, but its aim is explore and develop new perspectives in
this area particularly in the rural and urban space .
Rationale of the Seminar
