SurePrep FileRoom Configuration

If you are experiencing technical issues, they are likely to be solved by addressing the following 5 items:

1. Ensure that the Program File folder path is set to C:\SurePrepLocalFiles

2. Enable Full Access to the SurePrep Download Folder

3. Enable Full Control of C:\Program Files (x86)\SurePrepLLC

4. Check .PBFX Settings for Windows 7 and 8

5. Verify Microsoft .Net 4.5.1

*Note: This document does not apply to Citrix/Terminal Server users. If you use Citrix/Terminal Server

1) Ensure that the Program File folder path is set to C:\SurePrepLocalFiles

• Log in to the FileRoom and to the extreme right top of the window select “Admin” from the

dropdown. Then go to the Account Setup tab > Download Files Setup and from the Program file

section ensure that the browse path setup for program files is pointing to the C:\SurePrepLocalFiles

• If it is not set to your C drive, change the path to ‘C:\SurePrepLocalFiles'

• To set the path to C:\SurePrepLocalFiles click on button and enter C:\SurePrepLocalFiles

• Click to save the settings, else click to cancel.

2) Enable Full Access to the SurePrep Download Folder

If your SurePrep Download Folder path is set to a network drive, each user in your office must have full

read/write access to the network folder.

• Navigate to Admin > Account Setup tab > Download Files Setup.

• Here, if ‘SurePrep Download Folder’ path is pointing to a network drive, every user in your office

must have full access to this network drive.

• The following steps will ensure that every user has full access to the network download folder.

o From the Windows Start menu, browse to the network path that you set as the “SurePrep

Download Folder”. In our example the X: SurePrep Data.

o Right-click on your network folder (in our example we’re using SurePrep Data) and select

“Properties”.

o In the Properties window go to the “Security” tab. Click on “Edit” then “Add” to add a group

named “Everyone” under the “Group or user names” and click on the “OK” button.

o The added group name will appear in the “Group or User names” section. Now, select the

group name “Everyone” and check the box for “Full control” from the “Permissions for

Everyone” panel. Click “OK” to save the settings.

3) Enable Full control of C:\Program Files (x86)\SurePrepLLC

To verify that all workstations have full control of C:\Program Files (x86)\SurePrepLLC:

• Browse to C:\Program Files (x86), right click on the SurePrepLLC folder then select “Properties”.

• Click the “Security” tab, then select “Users”. You should see a check mark for “Full control” in

the “Allow” column.

• If you do not see a check mark for “Full control” in the “Allow” column, click “Edit”.

• Select “Users”, then check the box for “Full control”, then click “Apply”, then click “OK”.

4) Check PBFX Settings for Windows 7 and 8

If you are using Windows 7 or 8, ensure that the .PBFX file type is associated with

“SurePrep.PortableBinderFormat(PBF)” rather than “SurePrepBinderOLE”

For Windows 7:

• Click on the “Open” icon in the Options column to open the binder.

• When the .PBFX file downloads successfully, click on the caret as highlighted below and select

the option “Show in Folder”.

• In that folder select the binder .PBFX file and right-click on it. Select “Properties”.

• Here, you will have to change the default option that is selected to open the binder. To do so,

click on the “Change” button.

• In the “Open with” window you will find that the option for “SurePrepBinderOLE” is selected. To

change the settings, click on “Browse” button.

• Browse to the path where your PBFX.exe is saved C:\Program Files (x86)\SurePrepLLC\PBFX and

select the option as highlighted below, and click on “Open” button:

• In the window that opens you will see that the default option to open the SPbinder has changed

from “SurePrepBinderOLE” to “SurePrep.PortableBinderFormat(PBF)”. Click on the “OK” button.

• Click on “Apply” button to apply the changes.

• Once the changes have been applied, click on “OK” button.

For Windows 8:

• Click on the “Open” icon in the Options column to open the binder.

• When the .pbfx file downloads successfully, click on the caret as highlighted below and select

the option “Show in Folder”.

• A window pops-up. Select the binder and right-click on it. Select the option “Properties”.

• Here, you will have to change the default option that is selected to open the binder. To do so,

click on the “Change” button.

• In the pop-up that appears, click on “More option”.

• You will be able to view additional options. Click on “Look for another app on this PC”.

• In the “Open With” window that appears, select the “SurePrep PortableBinderFormat(PBF)” and

click “Open” button.

5) Verify Microsoft .NET Framework 4.5.1

SPbinder operates on the .NET platform. Each workstation must be configured for the .NET framework

in order to use SPbinder. To verify that Microsoft .NET 4.5.1 is installed:

• Click on Start > Settings > Control Panel

• Click on “Add or Remove Programs”.

• Verify that Microsoft .NET Framework 4.5.1 is installed.

• If .NET Framework 4.5.1 is not installed, it can be downloaded directly from Microsoft at their

Download Center:

Note: Local Administrator login is required for the installation of .NET 4.5.1
