What is temperature?

Temperature• a measure of how warm or cold an object or substance

is.

• Temperature is measured in degrees Celsius or Fahrenheit.

What is Barometric Pressure?

Barometric Pressure• Atmospheric pressure as indicated by a barometer. • Barometric pressure is measured in terms of the

downward force that the atmosphere exerts per unit of a certain area.

What is Wind Speed?

Wind Speed• Magnitude of the course of

motion. • Wind speed is measured with

an anemometer.

What is Wind Direction?

Wind Directions• Wind direction is reported by the

direction from which it originates.

• Wind direction is usually reported in cardinal directions. North, south, east, west, north-east (NE), north-west (NW), south-west (SW), and south-east (SE).

What is Percent of Cloud Cover?

Percent of Cloud Cover

• How covered the sky and the sun is with clouds. It is estimated visually.

• The amount of the sky covered by cloud is defined in oktas or eighths.

What is Humidity?

Humidity

• Humidity is a term for the amount of water vapor in air.

• Devices used to measure humidity are called a psychrometer or hygrometer.

What is Precipitation?

Precipitation

• Rain, sleet, hail, snow and other forms of water falling from the sky.

• The precipitation can be

measured with different types of gages.
