Research
Questionnaire What is something you wish your alarm had?
A button to automatically make it snooze for the next five minutes, then turn on again. Instead, if I want to do that, I have to manually reset the time, which is difficult when I’m half-asleep. I usually end up just turning the alarm off.
What is the most dissatisfying aspect about your alarm?
The fact that it’s really easy to turn off, and that it’s a phone.
Is your alarm efficient at waking you up in the morning (if no, why not)? Why?
My alarm wakes me up most of the time. But then I tend to fall back asleep.
What are one or two things you like about your alarm?
I can set different alarms for different times, which is great.
Which five senses are best at waking you up?
Sight is the best sense—light will wake me up quickly; followed by sound.

Feedback Received
Icons were too small
“Repeat” instruction was confusing
Not a good feature name
“Dark” and “Light” are not good instructions
Idea of a game to wake up was well received
Scroll feature was not noticed
Prototype
Future Design • Changes in design:
• Better “delete” and “scroll” icon• “Setting time” icons larger• No “Repeat” keyword• “Alarm Brightness” : “Screen Brightness”; “Dark to Light” : “0% to
100%”• When alarm goes into snooze
• On testing:• Give better tasks to user• Ask more ‘why’• Try not be nervous or lisp
