S.O.A.P.

• S = Scripture: Read a chunk, look for the

verse(s) that spoke to you that day &

write them out.

• O = Observation: What do you think God

is saying to you in this Scripture.

• A = Application: Personalise, how does it

apply to your life

• P = Prayer: Write out your prayer and

then pause and listen to God. Write down

what He says to you.

John 14:15 (NIV) 15 "If you love me, you will obey what I

command.

“God‟s love language is obedience to His

voice. Without it our most extravagant

offerings are meaningless.” Jeremy Riddle

Philippians 3:12-14 NIV

Not that I have already obtained all this, or

have already arrived at my goal, but I press

on to take hold of that for which Christ

Jesus took hold of me. Brothers & sisters

, I do not consider myself yet to have taken

hold of it. But one thing I do: Forgetting

what is behind and straining toward what

is ahead, I press on toward the goal to win

the prize for which God has called me

heavenward in Christ Jesus.

1 Corinthians 9:24 (NIV)

24 Do you not know that in a race all the

runners run, but only one gets the prize?

Run in such a way as to get the prize.

1 Corinthians 9:25 (NIV)

25 Everyone who competes in the games

goes into strict training. They do it to get a

crown that will not last; but we do it to get

a crown that will last forever.

Colossians 1:29 (NIV)

29 To this end I labor, struggling with all

his energy, which so powerfully works in

me.

Philippians 3:12-14 NIV

Not that I have already obtained all this, or

have already arrived at my goal, but I press

on to take hold of that for which Christ

Jesus took hold of me. Brothers & sisters

, I do not consider myself yet to have taken

hold of it. But one thing I do: Forgetting

what is behind and straining toward what

is ahead, I press on toward the goal to win

the prize for which God has called me

heavenward in Christ Jesus.

1. Attitude of humility

‘I have not yet arrived’

"Humility is not thinking less of yourself

, (that‟s inferiority or insecurity) but thinki

ng of yourself less."

2. Forget what is behind

Hebrews 12:1 (NIV)

1 Therefore, since we are surrounded by

such a great cloud of witnesses, let us

throw off everything that hinders and the

sin that so easily entangles, and let us run

with perseverance the race marked out for

us.

After the matter is forgiven

if I raise it again to myself

– that’s self-pity

if I raise it again to God

– that’s judgment

if I raise it again with the offender

– that’s condemning

if I raise it again with others

– that’s gossiping.

3. Strain towards what’s ahead

Judges 6:12 (NIV) 12 When the angel of the Lord appeared to

Gideon, he said, "The Lord is with you

, mighty warrior."

4. Press on towards the goal

„the poorest of all men is not the man with

out a cent, but the man without a dream.‟

”but I press on to take hold of that for

which Christ Jesus took hold of me.”

1. We forever want to be a church who puts worship and God's presence above all else

2. We forever want to be His disciples who look actively for ways to live and bring His Kingdom

from heaven to earth
