transcript

Tedd Arnold has published over 60 books.

Have you read any?

Tedd Arnold was born on

January 20, 1949 in

Elmira, New York. He

had three brothers.

Tedd is the brother on

Tedd and his family lived

on a farm in Pennsylvania

for many years and then

moved to Florida.

When he was a little boy, his mother

read Dr. Seuss books to him.

Tedd says the Dr. Seuss books remain vivid in his

mind are are a great influence on his work.

He went to the University of

Florida and graduated with a

degree in art.

Tedd began work as a

commercial illustrator.

His wife was a

kindergarten teacher

and suggested that he

write and illustrate

children’s books.

Tedd’s first book

was No Jumping on the Bed! It was inspired by

his son Walter.

Tedd and his wife Carol

have two sons – Walter and

William.

His son William inspired

the book No More Water in the Tub!

Tedd and

his family

live in

Elmira,

New

York.

Each illustration Tedd draws goes

through seven steps. Click HERE.

A lot of ideas for his books are inspired by

kids and the things they say and do.

Tedd’s cat Cody

appears in some of his

books. Cody used to love

to climb on his lap when

he read to his sons.

Tedd has had many jobs: “I have been

a soldier, a hamburger cooker, and a

worm counter (at a fishing tackle

store)…I'm an author and illustrator,

and I love this job the most!”

When he’s not writing, he likes to

play tennis, sketch, read, and

collect coins.

Tedd’s Favorite Place:

“The library is one of my favorite places. Wherever

I go…I like to stop in at the libraries. I like to think

of my favorite authors as being my friends, and no

matter what strange places I find myself in, I can

always find my friends at the library.”

Which one of his books is

your favorite?

Tedd Arnold
