Have you seen your zoo lately?

a. Positioning– If you haven’t been lately, take a new look at

your Zoo. When is the last time you went to the Zoo? The Zoo is a new Zoo.

b. Key advertising messages– i. Come see the Zoo…it gets better and better– ii. Immersion in live, natural outdoors– iii. It’s an exotic escape to another world– iv. Real animals, plants, sights, sounds– v. Everyone has fun for low price

• Second Annual Feast with the Beasts – October 12, 2007

• Over 30 restaurants from around Houston participate - featuring their signature dishes

• Live entertainment on 3 stages

• keeper chats and animal training demonstrations throughout the evening

• One of the largest events for the Zoo

• We had around 1,500 people attend our first year

Feast with the Beast e-mail campaign

• Pre-sale campaign for the month of June

• 3 themed e-mail newsletters leading up to the event

• Metrics reveal noticeable jump in page views and ticket sales the day after the email was sent.

Our Baby Boy

• Born Oct 1, 2006

• Weighed 384 pounds – largest Asian Elephant born in captivity

Year long campaign utilizing MacName the baby—8,000 people vote on KHOU and Zoo siteSpecial offer—see elephants for peanutsGuess the date Mac weighs 1,000 lbs—promotion for 1,000th visitorMac turns 1—card contest, bday party on October 6

Results

• Very good exposure and publicity for very little money

• Pushed visitors to use our new site to plan their visit and get involved with Zoo happenings
