A Word From the Pastor
Generosity is an important part of faith in Jesus Christ. November is a time of year at Wesley that we often
focus on planning and making financial commitments for the coming year. In the past, we have asked those
who attend Wesley to share their financial commitment for the coming year as a specific dollar amount.
This year we are doing it differently.
This year, we are asking those who attend Wesley to commit to a specific percentage of their income as
giving to God through the ministries of Wesley Memorial. This we will do by completing a simple
estimate of giving card as an act of worship. This commitment card will be filled out and sealed in worship,
offered to God as an act of worship, and will later be returned to you unopened.
While this process will be different, the principle is the same. God has given so much to each of us and we
are called to be faithful and generous as a response. A
tithe, or giving 10% of our income, has been the
standard throughout Christian history, but whatever
percentage that you can give joyfully is a good start.
I have shared before that giving 10% is an important
part of the spiritual life of my family and is something
we do as an expression of thankfulness. My family will
continue this in the coming year. I encourage each of
you to take a step in consistent giving by committing a
specific percentage of your income to God.
God Bless,
Gerald

Thank you for your kind gesture of providing lunch for our family at the funeral home, This generous
donation allowed our family to remain in fellowship togeth-er while awaiting Addison’s service at Mountain Home National Cemetery.
Sue E. Looney & Family
Mavis Fellers & the entire Fellers family would like to say a heartfelt thank you to Reverend Ken Lytton for his continued
visits, prayers, & care ministry during our difficult time as our son/brother/husband/father/friend, Tony Fellers, passed away & went to be with Jesus on Wednesday,
October 25th. We know God sends angels in difficult times & Pastor Ken was that angel who went above & beyond to be with our family. Wesley Memorial holds a special place in all
of our hearts as it was our family’s church home for many years. It was the church where Tony developed a deep love for Jesus Christ & later received his call to ministry. Though Tony will be greatly missed, we continue on with our deep
faith & the promise of eternal life to those who accept Jesus as their personal Savior. Blessings to all.

Gleaning is a biblical principle it is when one gathers
produce after the initial crops have been harvested. If the
rest of the produce is not picked it will go to waste. These
crops are then harvested by volunteers and taken to those
who are hungry. We will be going to Western North
Carolina and glean apples that are still edible and bring
back to Second Harvest Food Bank. They will then be
distributed to those in need.– fresh produce!!
This is great fun! Contact Missy

Communion Offering
Communion Offering on Sunday November 5th
will be for Families Free.
Families Free offer services to women currently or formerly
involved in the criminal justice system, along with their
families, and families with children at risk for going into the
foster care system. . They provide quality, evidence based
services combined with the faith-based principals of
compassion, healing and restoration to promote positive life
style changes for our communities at-risk and often overlooked
populations. The funds collected will go to provide Christmas
gifts to the children whose parent is in the program. They will
take the ladies shopping to purchase the gifts so that they can
pick out the gift themselves and be guided in what is age
appropriate for their child as well as working within a budget.
Please give generously so these kids can receive a gift from
their parent. Please make your check to Wesley and put
Families Free on the memo line. You can place check on the
altar rail or in the offering plate.
MONTHLY MISSIONS EMPHASIS November 2017
This year we will be partnering with Fresie Chikomb and the boys and girls orphanages in the Congo. Due to a
very tight budget, these children are not expecting anything for Christmas. With your help we will be able to provide one present for each child. There are 23 boys
and 38 girls. Possible things they will receive are: Watches, cars, Barbie dolls, soccer balls, jewelries,
shoes, t-shirts, etc.
For only $20 you can purchase a gift. Fresie will send the funds to the workers there who will pick out the right gift for each child. Fresie will send pictures back when
she returns to the Congo after Christmas.
Checks may be made to Wesley Memorial with Orphan Christmas on the memo line.
We will be decorating our
worship spaces, tower area & outside
for Advent/Christmas Season on
