climate change adaptation and mitigation at global

Key strategic results
Lessons learned from our experience
KM is key to project management and upscaling of climate
action (today the third pillar of the GCCA+ key to the success of
the two initial pillars, uspcaled in 2015)
Resources for KM and Communication are systematically
underestimated (for GCCA it was initially only 25% of one KE,
now 50%)
CAP4DEV: GCCA+ public group is not a community of practice
as such, but its’ OK!
Social media use: allow key/flagship initiatives to develop
their own social media accounts depending on their overall
goals
• without proper access to social media Communication and
KM is not efficient today (e.g. GCCA+ Instagram account)
• working on private sector without LinkedIn account might be
already an obstacle
What are the lessons learnt?
Allocate systemic resources (expert, time,
budget) to allow for specific programming in
support of other activities (e.g. KM is today
the third pillar of the GCCA+)
Include Communication and KM not only
at the initiative level ( e.g. Support facility)
but also in projects at time of formulation
(e.g. in AD guidelines; control that this is
applied , as for Monitoring & Evaluation)
Should KM considered a project
management function like M&E?
How KM can be mainstreamed in DEVCO programmes and projects?
