Leonardo

• Known as the leader, for being the namesake of

the most notable artist/inventor of the renaissance

period

Real Leonardo(Leonardo da Vinci)• Artist/Inventor/Scientist

– Best known for his painting of the Mona Lisa.

– Also draw the painting, The Last Supper depicting the scene prior to the death of Jesus; after being betrayed by Judas

- Introduced many new techniques; such as sfumato, the intentional blurring of lines. He used this in the Mona Lisa. You can look closely but you can’t actually see the corners of her mouth. This makes her smile mysterious.

• In the comics, Raphael is seen as being mad and bitter much of thetime. This can be seen to be areflection on the wayin which in real life Raphael, and his work,was overshadowedby that of Michelangelo

the bronze statue of David (not the statue most notable by Michelangelo)

• Being one of the first nude sculptures of the Renaissance, many were shocked at the realism put into his sculpture of David.
