The Best Feeling In Sports

The feeling I’m talking about is the feeling of solid contact in golf.

I think it’s the best feeling in sports because what other sport can you hit a ball and it goes as far as a golf ball goes?

A 125 yard iron shot, let’s say. That’s a 375 foot power alley homerun in most baseball parks.

It takes a lot of people to get together to play baseball. But it only takes that one of us going out there on our own and we hit that shot and it’s a sweet feeling.

A lot of times when we have a bad round, most of us have said at some point that,

just that one shot brings us back.

Now how could that be?

How could one shot bring us back?

Because it’s the best feeling in sports. That’s why. And it is challenging. That’s part of it too.

Sam Snead told Ted Williams when they had their debate about which one [sport] was harder. He said, “Hey Ted, we got to play our foul balls.”

The thing about it is there’s a lot of people involved [in other sports].

In golf, it’s something within our grasp. It’s something we can do on our own. It’s something that we can do for a lifetime.

That’s my priority as a teacher. To help golfers have that magical, best feeling in sports happen for them more often.

And there’s some conceptual understanding that helps it happen. There’s some drills and practice that takes place to get that to happen.
