6th April to Mid-July 1994, around 100 days.

Between 800,000 to 1,071,000 victims (mostly Tutsis, and thousands of moderate Hutus) were murdered.

Many Christians who made decisions to trust in Jesus did not continue to live on as disciples of Jesus Christ.

“I would have become a Christian, if not for the Christians.”

The Book of Leviticus is very important – because Leviticus is not just concerned about what we believe, or what we think about our faith, but how we live out our faith.

Leviticus 1:1-9“1The Lord called to Moses and spoke to him from the Tent of Meeting. He said, 2“Speak to the Israelites and say to them: ‘When any of you brings an offering to the Lord, bring as your offering an animal from either the herd or the flock. 3“‘If the offering is a burnt offering from the herd, he is to offer a male without defect. He must present it at the entrance to the Tent of Meeting so that it will be acceptable to the Lord.

4He is to lay his hand on the head of the burnt offering, and it will be accepted on his behalf to make atonement for him. 5He is to slaughter the young bull before the Lord, and then Aaron’s sons the priests shall bring the blood and sprinkle it against the altar on all sides at the entrance to the Tent of Meeting. 6He is to skin the burnt offering and cut it into pieces.

7The sons of Aaron the priest are to put fire on the altar and arrange wood on the fire. 8Then Aaron’s sons the priests shall arrange the pieces, including the head and the fat, on the burning wood that is on the altar. 9He is to wash the inner parts and the legs with water, and the priest is to burn all of it on the altar. It is a burnt offering, an offering made by fire, an aroma pleasing to the Lord.” – Leviticus 1:1-9

Burnt Offering

1. Offer the Bull/Sheep/Goat/Turtle Doves/Pigeons,2. Lay one’s hand on the animal’s head, 3. Slaughter the animal, 4. Present the Blood of the Animal at the Altar,5. Skin the animal, as well as wash the entrails and legs6. Burn the sacrifice7. So as to give a sweet aroma (fragrance) to the Lord

Also, the Burnt Offering was to be presented to the Lord day and night – Leviticus 6:9

Burnt Offering

The Burnt Offering is to thank God for what He has done, for His grace in allowing our sins to be forgiven as a result of the blood of the sacrificed lamb.

“By day the Lord went ahead of them in a pillar of cloud to guide them on their way and by night in a pillar of fire to give them light, so that they could travel by day or night.”

– Exodus 13:21

“9As Moses went into the tent, the pillar of cloud would come down and stay at the entrance, while the Lord spoke with Moses. 10Whenever the people saw the pillar of cloud standing at the entrance to the tent, they all stood and worshiped, each at the entrance to his tent.” – Exodus 33:9-10

“34Then the cloud covered the Tent of Meeting, and the glory of the Lord filled the tabernacle. 35Moses could not enter the Tent of Meeting because the cloud had settled upon it, and the glory of the Lord filled the tabernacle.” – Exodus 40:34-35

The first step of Discipleship is Worship, &

Peace / Fellowship Offering a) Only the fat that covers the inner parts or connected to them, was burnt unto the Lord

(Leviticus 3:14)

b) It is the only sacrifice where the offerer / worshipper might eat a part

(Leviticus 7:15-16)

“Therefore, if you are offering your gift at the altar and there remember that your brother has something against you, leave your gift there in front of the altar. First go and be reconciled to your brother; then come and offer your gift.”

Leviticus 20:7-8
