Iread once in a book authored by Jim Corbettthat “We Indians are fatalist” and it got methinking …are we? Do we accept whateverthe fate has to offer in front of us? Are wenot go-getters and rather sit and wait for a

magic wand to hit upon us and magically changeeverything and fulfill all our wishes?

Well, what do you have to say to the onlookerswhen an under-aged girl was being molested bya group of men that too outright in a publicplace? Was the event so hard and inevitable

that no one could have stopped it or rathereven tried? Was it fate? What could have beenthe worst case scenario? Somebody getting hurtpretty badly on either sides - the saviors or theevils but the Best thing gaining out of that stepwould have stopped someone in future with suchevil intensions attempting anything like this everagain. Why didn’t anybody do anything? Did wethink it was meant to be? Women have beenaccused of many things including initiating theseoccurrences by wearing inappropriate or going toa pub at odd hours and the list goes on andon. What kind of an example are we setting in

front of our young ones? That men are strongerthan women and they (men) are allowed to doanything and women have restrictions? Is thisright? At the end of the day, aren’t we humansirrespective of nation, caste, creed, colour? Yes,the pit is deeper than we think! The point hereis - are we thinking right! Can we be fatalist andcan provide a better nation to our young ones?
