Review Terms
• Archetype: An original model or type after which other similar things are patterned; a prototype
• Stereotype: a widely held but fixed and oversimplified image or idea of a particular type of person or thing.
• Pilgrimage: a journey, especially a long one, made to some sacred place as an act of religious devotion: a pilgrimage to Lourdes.
Do Now
• Journal: Where would you like to take a pilgrimage? Why is this place important to you?
• Remember that “pilgrimage” does not just mean “nice vacation” – there should be something significant to this.

• Let’s look at some examples from popular TV shows and from film.
• How are archetypes/stereotypes used in these examples?
