MARSHALL EMERY NAMED CAGECOACH AT HOWARD UNIVERSITY

WASHINGTON. D. CHoward University athleticdirector Samuel E. Barneslast week announced the ap-pointment of Marshall TEmery of Winston-Salem to

the position of varsity bas-ketball coach at Howard. Em-ery also will serve as instruc-tor in physical education, be-ginning next September.

The new basketball mentor

comes to Howard from Win-ston-Salem's Paisley High

school, where he served asphysical education teacherand basketball coach since1961. During his five years atPaisley Emery compiled a

won-lost record of 68 and 29.His 1962-63 and 1963-64teams won the state WesternDistrict AAA championship,

while his teams of the past

two years finished as runner-up for he Ditrict title. Earl-ier this year Emery was
