The Giro D'Italia starts in Ponte a Ema: a wide variety of events
to celebrate Gino Bartali
The stage of May 17th 2017 will start right in front of the Gino Bartali Cycling
Museum in Ponte a Ema: a wide number of events will take place.
PONTE A EMA (BAGNO A RIPOLI) – The stage of the Giro d'Italia of May 17th
will start in
Ponte a Ema, right in front of “Gino Bartali Cycling Museum” - a wide series of events has been
organized in order to celebrate the great cyclist.
The events are organized by Q3, the City of Florence, with the support of the City of Bagno A
Ripoli and the collaboration of the unitary committee Ponte A Ema: ANPI, ANEI (former prisoners
of nazi's lagers), P.A. Croce d'Oro, Auser, Centro Anziani, Ass. Friends of Gino Bartali Cycling
Museum, ACLI and L'Unione/ARCI clubs, UISP Florence Cycling, ASD Sports Club Aquila, ASD
cyclists Grassina, S. Piero in Ema.
LA TAPPA - Partirà da Ponte a Ema
“Ponte a Ema between past, present and future” as a way to find identity and membership through
remembrance of the values of the Resistance.
Saturday April 22nd
10 am – 1 pm, Gino Bartali Cycling Museum opening; from 9 am to 6 pm
“Artisan and Hand Market” in Piazza Bacci with special entertainment for kids, a special exhibition
of drawings by “V. Da Feltre” elementary school - “The square I'd like to have”.
Sunday April 23nd
10 am – 4 pm, Gino Bartali Cycling Museum; “ Vittorio da Feltre” school
will host a lunch at 1 pm; at 3 pm a reading of pages from the Resistance with a small concert of S.
Massini and S.Zanobini, first viola ORT. Classical Music.
Tuesday April 25th
9 am – 12 pm annual program of the Liberation Day.
Friday April 28th
10 am – 1 pm, Gino Bartali Cycling Museum opening; 9 pm a concert by
MUSIQUORUM with special songs of the Resistance.
Friday May 5th
10 am – 1 pm, Gino Bartali Cycling Museum opening; 11 am Holy Mass at the
San Piero A Ema church. A special procession on the tomb of Gino Bartali will take place right
after, as commemoration of the 17 years from his death. At 9 pm “Stories about Gino Bartali's life”
at Acli Club hosted by Eventi20.
Saturday May 6th
10 am – 1 pm, Gino Bartali Cycling Museum opening. At 9 pm at L'Unione
Club “Before and After the Liberation”. Music, dance and fun.
Monday May 8th
5 – 8 pm Gino Bartali Cycling Museum opens: at 6 pm a presentation of the
book “A Colpi di Pedale” by Paolo Ranieri, while at 6.30 pm the exhibition “Il mito di ferro”
opens. The works of art are made by students of the International School of Photography APAB
Institute. The exhibition will take place at Centro Gavinana from May 8 to 17.
Friday May 12th
10 am – 1 pm and 5-8 pm, Gino Bartali Cycling Museum opening: 5.30 pm,
inauguration of the exhibition “Go” by LABA Firenze with Lombardo Bike; 7 pm happy hour at
L'Unione Club.
Saturday May 13th
10 am – 1 pm and 4-8 pm, Gino Bartali Cycling Museum opening; At 15.30 a
“Gino Bartali” relay will start with the following stops: Sinagaoga, piazza Elia della Costa, Museo
Bartali. Meeting point is in piazza Duomo, athletes are invited to arrive at 2.30 pm. A show and a
commemoration will take place right after, following a toast and awarding of the Pergamena Giusto
Tra Le Nazione to the Gino Bartali Cycling Museum.
Sunday May 14th
10 am – 8 pm, Gino Bartali Cycling Museum opening; 10 am – 7 pm. Street
Exhibition/Market (via Chiantigiana) with local products and a special performance of the Grassina
School of Circus Arts. Special sale of restored bicycles by “Granacci” high school.
Monday May 15th
and Tuesday May 16th
9 am – 5 pm, Gino Bartali Cyclcing Museum opening:
“Scuole Al Museo” activities.
Wednesday May 17 9 am – 5 pm, Gino Bartali Cycling Museum opening. The 11th
stage of the
Giro d'Italia 2017 starts at 11.30 am in Ponte a Ema.
Saturday May 27th
10 am – 1 pm, Gino Bartali Cycling Museum opening: At 8 am, “La
Certosina” meet&greet with a group of antique bikes owners following a visit to the Gino Bartali
Cycling Museum organized by Misericordia del Galuzzo Sports Group.
Sunday May 28th
10 am – 4 pm, Gino Bartali Cycling Museum opening; At 8 am “Ciclostorica”
a parade of antique cars and bikes starting in Viale Tannini. From 8 am to 5 pm a special exhibition
of cars and bikes in Viale Tanini.
